I posted this elswhere but see if anyone can help ere?



Is there any way to add more apron textures such as different grasses to choose from for apron textures as we used to do in AFCADs? If so - how? Bob

Hi,

When making the airport with BGLComp (or ADE, AFX, AFCAD) you are limited to the textures MS has provided for you. If you want more choice you will have to make custom ground polygons with a tool like GMax.

You can certainly change the textures but that will affect all the airports using the surface. As far as I know there is a fixed number of surfaces available and thus it is not feasible to add more to the airports created by BglComp.

You can, of course create polygons of any texture using GMax and certainly in FS9 it is possible to create textured polygons using SBuilder. I am not sure if that is possible in FSX since it uses different methods to generate ground polys.

As Jon already said. There is no way in the XML format to specify a file name of a custom texture. So you can create it, but not use it. You could only replace the default textures, which would affect the entire world.
