Unhandled exception error

Apologies if this has been reported before, although I doubt it as it's been occurring for all v2 series. I don't have any issues when using v1 series.

When I try to set the Target Version I get an "Unhandled exception" error, "Access to path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FP Installer\1.0.0.0' is denied"

However, I don't have the folder "\FP Installer\"

I'm using W7-64 with all .Net versions installed and updated and AIFP is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\FlightSim\AI Flight Planner

I honestly couldn't say, but I can't rule it out. Would a re-install solve the issue do you think?

I should have asked before. Are both these paths still valid?. For whatever reason, it appears that AIFP didn't finds FS9.exe or FSX.exe (as applicable) in the specified path.

I know where the "FP Installer" label comes from. (I won't try to explain.)

I just had a similar thing occur. I suspect you setting the target version was the first time you had attempted to access that version of FS from AIFP.

The first time AIFP is asked to access a version of FS, it had to first find it, which requires access to the registry. Windows 7 (and Vista) won't let you access the registry or private variables without administrator privileges - which presumably, you did not have.

Start AIFP with administrator privileges and it should be OK.

Incidentally, you do have a folder named "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FP Installer\1.0.0.0". It was created by Windows 7 the first time you ran AIFP. In future releases, it will be called "AI Flight Planner\2.0.0.0".

Thanks Don, that did the trick. I'd set v1 to administrator privileges but forgot to do the same for v2 :o

Subconsciously, because the shortcut has them I must have assumed it would cascade down to the prog.

I didn't before, but now it's run with privileges, it's there.
