Looks Great! (As usual :D )
Nice turnaround there, and good luck with the suspended runway, that'll be fun fun with FS2004 :banghead::banghead: ! Keep it up! :)
Dude! That is EXCELLENT! Cant wait to see it in the sim!
Keep up the great work.

Crashgate3,
This project is stunning. Your commitment replicating the terrain mesh and elevations are like nothing I have ever seen before. Your night lighting and subtle details like the shadows the lamp posts cast look brilliant. Textures and models look extremely well built. Highly impressed.

Haha.. lots...:D
About 25000 so far, but I've not put any LODs in it yet.
Its perfectly smooth and playable though.

Hi
So how is this great scenery coming along? The homepage has not been updated for a long time... :)
Hi technicolor,
this is looking gorgeous !!!! Have you already tested it with FSX? Whenever you need somebody for such a test - just give me a hint :D

A bit of an update.
After some troubles getting it to work, I've managed to get the rendered night-lighting to work and it's, well.. I'll let you judge for yourselves. :D

Hey, my first post in this forum. Those are better than professional lights! I love them.
Can I ask, how you rendered them? so I can render them on my coming project of Jinnah International airport in Karachi.
I love all the night lights, brilliant job.... best ever. First time I am looking at such a professional night time work.

All the best,

Looking splendid! I wouldn't disregard the transition with the surounding area though?
Wow! I can't wait to have a go flying into this one.

Really nice looking. I just sat there and thought: Wow!
And once again I see someone who made this special looking building textures I try to create for months now but never get done right.
Is the nightlighing on the buildings also rendered? I had the same idea for Frankfurt some time ago. Just take the day texture and some glowing windows and let C4D do the rest ;-)

Yes, they're all rendered - I'm not *that* good at drawing.. :D
3DSMax has a 'render to texture' function that will take an existing texture map, and 'bake' the light and shadow onto it from the scene you place it in.

That's the same thing I do with Cinema 4D ;-)

Can I "bake" my textures using Gmax? Or is that a feature of 3Ds Max only? (version 9 I take it?)
Gee, those have got to be some of the best night light techniques of streetlights and ground lighting I have ever seen in FS. I just may have to upgrade to 3Ds Max and get an oven! :p

You'll see how much of a bargain GMax is when you price 3ds Max. At $3495.00 it's out of reach for the average FS developer. Even Maya is $1995.00.
3ds Max has a 30-day trial.

Yikes! At $3495.00 I can buy two ovens, a washer, a dryer, a refrigerator....

I know. Sick isn't it?:yikes:
Don't forget about the 30-day trial though.
There might be an alternative in the form of TrueSpace (http://www.caligari.com) by Caligari.
I've just looked through the manual and bake to texture is there.
As posted else where on the forums, TrueSpace is now free.

But what formats does it output to?
There is a list of file types on the BLOG.
Of those listed, GMAX will import .dxf, .3ds and .prj files.
.X files are also supported, not sure if these can be converted to mdl's

Hello CrashGate3
I saw your project and it looks amazing!
But it seems the project is dead because your last activity was on 22th of January 2009. I'm really looking forward to this great scenery.
Has anyone news about his project?
Thanks for help

mmm I don't think so, if you look at fs2004 aerosoft screens, you can see that are very different from this one, and looking at the site http://lpma.6.forumer.com/ in the forum is stated that this scenery will be release on avsim when finished.
So just be patient when this scenery will be finished we will know :D

very nice job.... love the night lighting... its things like that that can make a scenery kick into another level... i have always been a proponent of quality textures on simpler objects most often look better than simple textures on complex objects... AND its better for fps, so, very nice!!! not that you haven't made some nice objects, its just you are paying attention to the texturing and lighting, very important.... (imho)
impressive :)

3DSMax really costs almost $3500?!?!?! :yikes: That is ridiculous. What is different between that and GMAX?

There are thousand of differences!!!! the rendering engine, materials library, materials effects, a lot of import and export formats and professional support directly from Autodesk :)
