View Full Version : How to use two Groun2K4 projects in one FS9 scenery folder?

Hi all,

I am trying to build a scenery with Ground2K4 (amongst others) which includes two projects a) the vicinity around the airport and b) an area at some distance from the airport. To build the Landclasses I have had to split this into two Ground2K4 projects, which generate BGLs into the same Scenery folder. This is where FS9 crashes.

Any one have a clue how to get around this?

Does it crash when only one at a time is present?

No, when both are present.

They are two areas of 10km x 10km approx 20km appart. I was creating two separate Ground2K4 Projects (with different names obciously), which were writing their BGLs into the same Scenery folder.

Works fine with either present, but not both.

Any idea what to doi about this?

Not really

What happens if they are in separate folders?

Actually, it must be something different. In the Scenery directory I also found a txt file called SCAERROR, so there must be something wrong with one of the files during compilation. Any idea how to find out what?

Hi,

Did you try to load only the bgl with the problem?

Two or more bgl files can be in the same folder, but, why not to compile the two areas in the same project?

José

Is there another tool for designing smaller ground poligons rather than Ground2K4?

Hi José,

I have finished one part of the project (the airport) and now decided that I want some landmark (a park with lake and monuments) some 20kms away. They don't fit into the original project as they would be too distant. I also don't want to throw away two week's worth of work on the original project.

I just figured out that it must be a different problem with my second project, as on compilation I get the SCAERROR txt file. As suggested by Scruffyduck, I tested the scenery with either project not include. It works fine with first project only, but crashes when not having first project in, but just second project.

Any clue where I can look the fix the error?

Hi, Ziegenhorn,

Hi José,
It works fine with first project only, but crashes when not having first project in, but just second project.
B.

Your first project is working well, the second, not.

Please, excuse me, but the way you are analyzing the problem seems to be wrong (...but crashes when not having first project in).

Forget the first project. It has nothing to do with the second. Redo the second one, if necessary, from the very begining.

Regards,

José

Thanks José, you are absolutely right, just did this:

... and resolved, a) it had nothing to do with project one, the damned thing crashed, because I had assigned Landclass 000 (the first Water VTP in the menu) to one tiny polygon.

Now both projects work side by side. Thanks for your replies!
