Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I want to make sure I've got this right.
What I have presently is FSX with SP1 installed.
To install the SDKs, do I install the base SDKs off the disk, then SP1 then SP1a? Have I got that right, or do I jump straight to 1a?
Second, do the export tools install straight into gMax or do I have to manually put them there? I'm already exporting to FS2004 no probs, but the last time I tried this for FSX, the exporters didn't seem to appear in gMax.
Was that a broken install or did I miss something?
Thanks!!
Best regards,
Robin.

If you don't have them installed, install them from the DVD and then apply the SP1A straight away. If you already have SP1 for the SDK installed, SP1A can just go over it.

You will have to copy the gamepack folder from the SDK to GMax yourself. After that you can start GMax with the correct shortcut as usual.

Hi,
Thanks! :)
I found the FSX Game Pack. I copied it verbatim into the gmax/gamepacks folder (so the tree looks like gmax/gamepacks/FSX_Gamepack) but get errors when I try and run the tools.

Any ideas?

Hi Robin,
I copied them exactly the same, but I am not having any trouble running the scripts after that. Also the error in the screenshot does not tell me much, so I can't really tell you what is going wrong there.

Hi Arno,
I just tried manually selecting the scripts through the gMax interface rather than through the FS Tools menu, and get the following error:

I'm going to try as it suggests. :)

Did you run the ConfigSDK script in the FsX SDK folder? That might have something to do with it as well.

MaxXML and MaxUtils don't exist. :(

I suppose this is a .NET error?? :banghead:
I'm going to re-install it AGAIN. :banghead:

Hi,
My .NET install was FUBAR, but it seems to be working OK now.
However........

Am I just destined not to develop for FSX or what? :( I get the impression these scripts weren't designed for gMax.
Best regards,
Robin.

Ah HAA!!!
If I run gMax from the FSX SDK folder (there is a supplied shortcut with various switches appended to the command line) IT WORKS!!! :D :D
Thanks!! :)
Best regards,
Robin.
