View Full Version : Work in progress: Uetersen airfield (EDHE, North Germany)
Hi,
for anybody who is interested in german airfields:
I will soon release a new airfield scenery for FSX.
It is the small grass airfield of Uetersen (EDHE) near
Hamburg (North Germany).
I must admit that this is my very first self-made scenery.
I just could not wait until Aerosoft publishes their German Airfields series
for FSX (especially part 2), so I am trying to make a more or less acceptable
alternative, at least for EDHE.
Here are some first pictures of the current status. Maybe there is somebody,
who would be happy about a more realistic EDHE (Uetersen) within FSX ?

Hi again,
things are almost done for the first release, so I think
it is time to post some more screenshots :-)
After the first release I will continue my work on this
little airfield. The plan is to improve on details, add some
buildings and have one or two Cessnas practising in the traffic
circuit.
Regards,
Andreas
Hi everybody,
at last it is done !
I decided to add some more details for the
first release and now version 1.0 is out (4th November).
You can download the scenery from avsim.com,
just search for Uetersen airfield.
By the way, you will notice that there is actually
another EDHE scenery from a different author,
so choose as you like !
For the future I plan to work on an update, that adds
seasonal and night textures plus some AI traffic.
Now, if you are interested in german airfields,
give it a try. Comments are always welcome, no matter
if positive or negative...
Regards,
Andreas

Thx meshman, looking forward to your feed-back...
Regrads,

Hi folks,
after a couple of weeks I started working on
the second release. Seasonal and night textures
are finished now (see screenshots). I don't claim that
they look realistic, I just tried to adapt the colours
to the surrounding default scenery as much as possible.
I think one of the most annoying things are obtrusive
transitions between different sceneries...
The next point is a completely new AFCAD file for the airfield,
such that I can finally add some AI traffic.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Regards,
Andreas

I love how clean everything looks. You did such a great job with rendering this level.

Thanks for your feed-back !
Unfortunately, I haven't worked so much on EDHE
since the last screenshots, but I will go on with it
as soon as possible.
@meshman:
Do you think, there are too many static airplanes ?
I know the airfield from my visits at week-ends and
I always found quite a few planes out there. This may
be different of course on work-days...I don't know.
But it is a good hint to remove some of the planes, when
adding AI traffic.
Anyway, the static airplanes from Rwy12 (which by the way
must be installed separately) are not a perfect
choice for FSX because of some display problems.
Does anybody know an alternative library of free static
aircrafts ?
Regards,
Andreas
One Cessna is already practising touch-and-gos
around Uetersen and another one is going to EDDH (Hamburg)
and back. I think this should be enough traffic, I just
don't want to lose too many frames per second...
Some testing still needs to be done, but after that
I am going to release version v1.1.
Regards,
Andreas
Hi folks,
I have just uploaded the updated version of
my Uetersen airfield scenery to avsim.com.
As previously described it adds seasonal
and night textures plus some AI traffic.
(At night there is actually no illumination,
the airfield is closed anyway...)
I expect the download to be available
from tomorrow on.
Regards,
Andreas
