This is primarily fixes problems identified with Version 1.00. In addition it will now work if there is no FSX present on the machine where it is installed.

This is a REQUIRED update.

To obtain the updates run ADE Home version 1.00. Select Help and then Check for Update. Click Check Now. After a few moments you should get information about the updates available.

Double click on the offered URLs to download the two required files. Each file has a readme that provides further information and details of the fixes in this release

Hi Jon,

I have ADE version 1 and have been enjoying it thank you. Unfortunately when I try to update via the help menu I simply get a load of error messages and they finish by closing the programme.

What should I do, please?

A screenshot or a list of the error messages would be useful John.

Don't forget that the update will only allow you to download the available .zip files. You must close ADE before unzipping them.

John

First can you tell me what process you are going through to make the update and post some screenshots of the error messages please.

As a thought have you got both update files?

John

Sorry you are having problems downloading the 2 zip files that should display in the window when try to open the "Check for Updates"

Jon is off air and has the key to the download links but will be back shortly.

Hang in there with us and he will get it fixed.

You do have at least the first version from AVSIM or the ADE website (v 1.00) working now correct?

If so then it seems as if we have a problem that just affects the download site.

In the mean time one of us could send the 2 small update zip files to you by way of a e-mail if you want to PM me a address.

Jim,

Many thanks.

Yes ADE v1 is working perfectly now that I have followed the tip to save parking radii.

My email is j.nightingale3@ntlworld.com. If the two files can be passed that way it will be very helpful.

Jim,

On Jon's other programs I cannot update through 'Help' either. So please do not assume the fault is at your end.

I am getting on a bit. 70+ and forget what changes I have made. I cannot remember whether I installed an update for FSX. BUT I do remember that I uninstalled FSX and re-installed and I certainly have not re-installed an update if there was one. I am telling you this in case I have created a problem for myself.

Anything more advanced than QBasic is a language I have never tried to learn. Sorry.

Yours,

John Nightingale

Good to know that this is now sorted out. I am still wondering why you are having problems with the updater

I wonder if there is a software firewall set that is blocking the download. I you are using antivirus software it would be set there, I suspect.

Just a guess.

Good point Derek. ADE just uses http for the download but I guess it could be blocked

Hi,

I just did a download of update 1.02 and get a message saying
"File 'jmSDELib.dll' is password protected. Please enter the password in the box below."

I don't remeber there being any password before. Am I wrong?

Thanks for any help provided.

Manfred

No it is not password protected. When did you get the message when you tried to download it?

There is a folder called sde_102.zip
When I click extract all files.....

OK, that's just plain wierd. Never mind. I just tried to get the exact point when it asked for a password and it didn't.

I just ran the update this time and looks like it worked flawlesly.

Thanks anyway ;)

I am getting the same error message as John, when clicking on the ADE update.
It also says I have the latest version of jmCommonlib.
So it looks like I need an updated version of, FsSceneryLib.
And, I also need, the update for ADE, which both links are there. Below the link for the update, adeh 102.zip,
it says, also requires updated jmSDELib.dll.
Just tried again for the first update, and get the error message.
I will keep trying, or, someone could send those to me by email.

John's problem and maybe others with a similar one is that the firewall is not set up to allow communication with ADE. Your firewall may be blocking it.

Edge
21 Dec 2007, 01:44
Possibly so, but the only firewall I have on, on the pc that I am using for flight sim would be in my router. I wonder if there is an IP for the ADE updater, or whatever it is called, I forget now, that one could allow that IP in the router settings?
EDIT: No. The only option is enable or disable. I might just test that and see what happens.

Hear in the USA some routers block by default certain sites. One popular Company in Maryland has been a thorn for some Users that can't get to FSInsider from within the FSX startup menu. Hope you are not in Maryland using %*%$__)(#@

It is up to the phone company (to be notified) that carries the line link to unblock on their end and not at your end. That is even if you tell the software to keep your end open.

Edge

Nope, not in Maryland. I can't test my theory anyway because now it says i have all the files. Thanks.
But now I'm getting another error message when selcting an airport. I will look around the site first, then get back to you.
