Simconnect timing

I'm new at this but I was playing around with the examples in theSDK, AI_traffic & AI_waypoints. They work sometimes. Is there a Timer or an Event, they are waiting for? I on one machine using C++ express. I can't step through the DLL.

Also are there more links and examples out there.
