• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

P3D v2 Contact Points; Smoking with low Static Compression

Hey all,

I am making a plane that has an odd suspension that involves the wings. I need the wheels to 'not' move. Spin, but no up/down animation.

With that, I found if I lowered the 'static compression' to 0.03, they work quite well, except for one single thing. They smoke! They smoke like crazy. Even the tail wheel will do this. I have no idea why. They have no contact point near those locations.

What could cause this?

Do you have an effects section? what's there. Only three points?

Could be that the touchdown effect is on continuously. if you relax the compression does it go away?

Compression ration is 2.5 still. Maybe change that - to what don't know.

Thanks Ron, good idea.

I did change the touch down effect to 'dummy' and the smoke is now gone. She was hopping just a bit, so I increased MOI on pitch (the axis it was hopping, or vibrating on) and that too went away.

Man, she handles so well. I am loving this...

The reason the tires smoke is because the suspension is so stiff.

You can relax the static compression number a bit without the animation if you have enough tire to act as a cushion.
Simply use .1 or .2 for SC and use a ratio of 1.1 or 1.2. The sim thinks you have some suspension but the animation is not there. Hopefully your tire height will allow this.
