• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Hi everyone! :)

I have always been fond of P3D and really that was my limitation. Many of the applications that I wanted to use for development were transitioning over to 64bit. I have made a hell of an upgrade ... from al old Penitum 4 3.80 ghz single core to a six core 3.50ghz cpu .. from 2 gigabytes of ram...

    Hi everyone! :)

I think maybe I should get back into flight simming again, now that I have a new more powerful PC. I lost interest in this activity 2 years ago, maybe longer. All I can remember is that I started some DC8 project, had a great run with HJG, painted a few planes and then everything fell apart...

    my blender 3d adventures!

True but Max is very powerful! I think for people wanting to get into 3d modeling, lighting and compositing, Blender is a good start. If you want to get into the professional stuff, Max is loaded with features. Blender is pretty straight forward, the learning curve is less steeper than before...

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

Not all games are setup this way, for FSX it will reside in the General tab with an option to turn off the steam overlay. However, the steam client continues to run in the background to relay information back and forth between the game. What people should be concerned about is the LOCAL FILES...

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

This may have something to do with the STEAM overlay shell that runs in the background. Like I said before, STEAM presents a bit of an overhead. A loss of few fps is to be expected. The Steam overlay is accessible via Shift+TAB and with every steam game, it is heavily tweaked to provide full...

    my blender 3d adventures!

For my next little project, I am modeling a flying school bus during my Christmas vacation :3 I want to keep it simple but all sorts of ideas are popping into my head and it could turn into a massive project.

How To Deal With Face Shading Issues?

I'm not sure this technique would work in Blender but you can try! I haven't done any spline modeling in Bledner because it would appear that Blender doesn't fully support splines the way gmax does. In Blender if you want to insert a point into a spline in a specific location, you can't, you...

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

Installing an aircraft is fine, it's the messing around with settings that make your copy of steam legit; such as registration or serial keys as was being discussed a few comments before. All I can say is, you've been warned :3

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

If you ran it, the hand shake occured, you can play in offline mode but not for long, in a couple of weeks, it will attempt to re-validate the hand shake and you'll get a cloud error.

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

DO NOT MODIFY ANYTHING INSIDE THE STEAM FOLDERS!! It seems some folks here are very NEW TO WHAT STEAM ACTUALLY IS. Keep tampering with settings and you'll find yourself unable to use multiplayer. Steam creates a checksum of the FSX internal directory and settings, if something doesn't look...

    FSX Blender vs. 3ds

Yup and these "VS" threads usually just start wars in the end. I believe there is nothing more to be said here.

How To Deal With Face Shading Issues?

Everyone has their style of 3d modeling I guess. In gmax when I created fuselages for aircraft, I never started with a cylinder, instead, I created entire spline sections of the aircraft and then created planes and skinned them by snapping it to the spine points, it was time consuming but I got...

    FSX Blender vs. 3ds

After some thought and thinking I finally understand what you are talking about. This has nothing to do with mirroring an instance of an object an editing it. For example in gmax when you create an instance, the instance is a duplicate part of the mesh or half of it at least and anything you do...

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

maybe so for source engine games. When Alice Madness Returns was released, I bought the stand alone copy from Walmart and the game ran flawlessly. Just to experiment, I bought the game again, on steam and it was significantly more laggier than the stand alone version. The Steam framework is...

How To Deal With Face Shading Issues?

Also, to get back on this conversation on the positive side...can you please show us the "end-result" of the sub-division mesh? That way we can certainly tell why you are getting that rough shading bt I can guarantee you right now that you have too many sections in that area and mesh is real...

How To Deal With Face Shading Issues?

If you're making a game model, sub division is a NO-NO while it how it looks that counts.....you really have to understand how HEAVY this model will be when it comes to vertex or polygon count...too many and the sim will come to a crawl. Subdivision is a form of GENERIC modeling, meaning you...

    FSXA FSX on Steam: Compatibility?

FSX works best as a stand alone program. Steam eats up a lot of system resources when running in the background, for FSX which is already a super resource hog...STEAM would act like a pack of locked up brakes.

    my blender 3d adventures!

Not a problem Shamrock122 I love to see other people's work! That's a really nice bus! And thanks to you again krispy1001 for your wonderful tutorials. I can't wait to test out the Blender2FSX tool. Blender has made a move in the right direction with this new interface, the old one just didn't...
