• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Gen_SceneryEffect Problem

Here are the objects you will need: Rectangular Area Proximity Trigger GEN_SceneryEffect Attach Effect Action Place your Rectangular Area in the place you want the player to trigger the effect. Place the GEN_SceneryEffect object in the location you want the effect to be. Add...

Inherit a objects location, altitude, and heading

Here is an example I used before. You want to park a Beech and switch to a chopper. The objects in the blue circle are activated (on) and the objects in the green circle are not active (off). The green arrow is where you want the player to park near the van. You can do this with a...

Inherit a objects location, altitude, and heading

When you change object, it will not move the player to another location, it just changes the object around the player. I have done a few tricks to make it look like the user changed aircraft and position by turning on and off objects (aircraft). To do this, you must set up the location of the...

FSX How to add an animated object

Paul, I have Acceleration loaded. I tried both bush pilots, and they both wave. I even made a mobile scenery object with activation false, the animation sill continued. Is it possible to accidentally stop the animation using the modeling tools? Maybe something has gotten corrupted...

FSX How to add an animated object

You lost me on the ActivateNodeAction thing. This is not something that is in the Mission Creation Reference. I have a hunch you are making this harder than it is. I just poped the Bush Pilot into my test mission using the OPT and he started waving. Here is what the XML looks like...

FSX How to add an animated object

Dave, Welcome! These are just Scenery Objects. The Bush Pilot is one that waves, there are others. You don't need to do anything to make them animate, just place them where you want them. Here is a good reference site, it dosn't tell you the animiated objects, but if you look...

    active/deactive area

Here is a quick example: I made two areas around the center of the runway. The first was just over the runway and it's called FlyOver. The second called Airport was centered on the runway, but was much larger. I created two Proximity Triggered called FlyOver and Airport. FlyOver is not...

    active/deactive area

You are missing one step, the Proximity Trigger. Your Object Activation Action needs to activate the Trigger not the Rectangular Area. Create your Rectangular Area. Create the Proximity Trigger and reference the Rectangular Area. Create the Object Activation Action and Reference the...

    active/deactive area

Make the runway proximity trigger off to start (Activated: False). Use a second trigger some distance away from the runway to trigger an Activation Action that will activate the trigger over the runway. For your second trigger, you could direct the player into another rectangular area using...

    Cut Scenes possible?

This may help others so I will post it here, it was a reply by e-mail: The easy answer is yes you can change aircraft while flying, and you can change aircraft more than once, but you need to understand how FSX does this change. You can switch aircraft using the Change Object Type Action...

    Cut Scenes possible?

There are a few tricks I have used. When you set up a cut scene, you can create it by using AI in another location. The trick is to do this near the location of the start of the mission. It takes FSX some time to load the scenery if you move too far from the starting location. So if you...

FSX Timer Trigger Reset Mission after a Short Period

Did you remove the default files listed in the .cfg? Gunner

FSX Timer Trigger Reset Mission after a Short Period

Wow, just the thing! I didn't realize it worked with missions. Gunner

FSX Timer Trigger Reset Mission after a Short Period

How about triggering a goal on a 5 minute timer so the mission complete message comes up, then go to a camera view pointing at another identical aircraft sitting on the ground someplace? They won't do much more flying if they can't see what they are doing. Gunner

    Just some questions...

That will be a bit more complicated then it looks. When you switch aircraft, the aircraft changes around the users location. You can not move into an AI aircraft. You will have to do a little slight-of-hand to make it look like the user is moving, and the other aircraft are not. For...

    Just some questions...

I think you lost me. The flt file is only for the players aircraft, not AI aircraft. Are you trying to add an AI aircraft, or do you want the player to fly this aircraft?

    Mission Help

Controlling the weather isn't easy, but you can do it. You need to do it based on location and not time. Each airport is a weather station. You can set the weather at each station. For example, if your flying from airport A, past airport B, to airport C, you can set the weather at A to be...

    Just some questions...

If you don't want them to move, use a scenery object. I don't know exactly what you are trying to do, or what the problem is. XVelBodyAxis= YVelBodyAxis= ZVelBodyAxis= It depends on what direction of speed you want to change. Making missions is supposed to be fun :) Gunner

    Mission Help

You have an error somewhere in the mission. Any error will cause the mission to not run. Errors are sometimes hard to find. There is a free version of FS Mission Editor. I suggest using this. It has a good error tools to show you where the problem is. If you like the free version, it is...

    Just some questions...

Put an Area Definition around the target plane, use a Proximity Trigger to detect the flour bomb. To do this, use Reference in the Object Filter. In the OnEnterFilter reference the flour bomb. If you want an exact hit on the aircraft, you can use more area definitions to cover the aircraft...
