EGBG Taxi Lights: Can I have your opinions pelase?

I have been messing around with taxi way edge lights for a little while now.

I am not using BGL lighting (LIGHT_NAV) since it is to bright; I am not using effects because I do not want to.

I have used a strange way to do these in my opinion, 2 planes in 3DS MAX, one on the floor and the other in front view, tweaked to rotate to user view which has a big blue texture on it but a 32 bit alpha channel to get somethign which looks like a light, however...

I want your opinion on these lights, honest opinion... EGBG is a small little aerodrome, I have flew over here at night and never noticed taxiway lights were at this airport until I read their docs on NATS AIS where it stated "blue taxiway edge lighting" amongst the PAPI and runway edge lights etc etc... so they really are very dim and not visible at all at 1500 feet in the dark...

So please, baring that in mind, honest opinion of these

Regards and will be waiting to hear your thoughts

Just a quick side note, when in top-down view, you also see the plane with the blue "light" on the ground

I think they should be slightly bluer (they're kinda on the purple zone now) and a bit brighter near the center of the light. If you could make the actual physical light stick/lamp/whatev they'd be a lot more believable too

Yes, that looks better.

Possibly best to comment with the model in place for each, however.

Yes, the color is better, but I was refering to this kind of effect also:

Notice how it gradually goes whiter towards the center.

I don't understand, these lights do gradually get brighter towards the middle...

here is my alpha channel

(Users that see this texture may use it if they wish to in freeware or commercial products I don't mind)

This is the image I use to reference my effect files for my WIP on KDXR. The blues here are soft, bright and appealing. Also, might raise the light up from the ground?

You won't get there just with the alpha, the diffuse layer needs a bit of white towards the center, currently it's pure blue (not technically but you get the point)
