It does work. There's some scenery downloadable from HoverControl.com that has liftable objects in freeflight I believe, though I've not tried it myself. Folks there should be able to help you out, for sure.

Hi Folks

Riley -
See link below for a set of test flights and object placements,
that I'd knocked up during FSXA beta.

Places 43 liftable default objects at EGNL Walney, UK.
Works with default and addon meshes/sceneries.

Info & instructions included.
Download - FSXA_Test_Slingloads_In_The_Sandbox.zip

There's another one available at Hovercontrol.
Search for Scar Creek Load Lifting Flight.
ISTR it requires the Scar Creek scenery/mesh.

Just in case your hoist and sling aren't working in the FSXA tutorials -
Please see - FSDeveloper - Wiki - Key Mapping (FSXA)

Okay so I got something installed but I cant get the object placement tool (I have read the SDK) to place AI objects (the ones that I can edit the sim.cfg file to allow them to be lifted) for some reason it wont save correctly but I can save regular scenery...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<FSData version="9.0">

The above is all that it says in the .xml file when I try and save the AI objects ....

It can definately be done. I fly the Merlin for a military VA and a friend has made it possible for us to pick up loads whilst on server. The other players cannot see the load however.

He is going to give me a tutorial on how to place the loads, so when he does I will give you a shout.

Hi Folks

Riley -
Sorry I'd missed your post previously.

You can't save AI objects as scenery.

What you do is place simobjects as static simobjects, (SimContain.Container)..

Open the xml sample supplied in the FSXA_Test_Slingloads_In_The_Sandbox.zip

Hello BASys, Did you design all the oilrigs West of Blackpool? Been enjoying those for a while and was wondering if they were available for FSX.

Hi Folks

Helicopterpilot -
The ODG versions of the UKEZ Irish Sea platforms
were modeled by Steve Chase, (aka Vertigo),
who sadly last month, died from undiagnosed cancer.

There are several ODG updates & addons
currently pending completion & packaging.

I have not used this scenery,but I was able to lift objects in a few missions,though I had to use a hover gauge to hold my hover with the EH101.
In relation to that, does anyone have an idea when using SDK object placer, how to get the "Liftable Objects " to work in the scenery I created?

I think The AI objects are for scenery used in a mission creation only.If you create a mission you will be able to lift them. I don't have the patients to create a mission.

The Zip file is really great!There should be NO need for people to modify files to get them to work as advertised!The Average person has NO knowledge of modifying aircraft to get them to work!Microsoft would have had less people changing over to X plane of giving up on FSX if they would have made things more user friendly!Microsoft and the developers limit their products in this way and totally frustrate the novice into giving up! (Contrasting views are welcome)

EH101 Sling load

It seem that I can only get the SLING LOAD not the Hoist to work in missions onlyI have used the object placer and placed liftable object all around but yet "no Dice" It wont work. How does one get the SLING LOAD to work? I can get the hoist to lower and retract but Don't see any command for the sling load?

Jim -
Sorry for not responding earlier,
I've been away for the past 5 days.

What happens if you load the samples provided ?
(at the provided sample's EGNL location).

It works in that environment,but How do you Get the "Sling load" to work? The hoist works. But the sling load Won't work in non mission or prefabbed environments. Example,i created some scenery with lift able objects I go to lift the objects,using the key assignment prescribed in the help menu. The test flight that was downloaded was fine and it worked but,How do you get the sling load to show up UNDER the EH101?When i try to get it to work in a regular flight ,it won't work,I only get the Hoist to show up.

Hi Folks

Jim -
The way MS implemented slings is not very realistic.

They're attached to the aircraft, rather than the payload,
and unfortunately limited to a presaved flight.
i.e.
You need to edit the .flt file.

See the last section in the included sample .flt files.
Code:
// -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// Sling & Hoist bits

[ResourcePath]
Path=flights\other\

[ObjectFile]
File=_Test_Slingload_EGNL_Master

[Payload.0]
PayloadList=-1

[Sling.0.0]
Object=
CableLength=0
HoistSwitch=0

[Sling.1.0]
Object=
CableLength=40
HoistSwitch=0
[Sling.1.0] in this case is a 40' sling.

I did Exactly what was mentioned in the edit and it DID show the sling load cable in the saved flight ,but it won't lift the "lift able objects",I place there. I raised and lowered the EH101 even used a hover gauge and still no lift? Below is the flt file I edited)
