make a video of what is on your screen
Hi,
I want to show something of my scenery in a video. So I need to record what is on my screen. I tried to search, but couldn't find a program that would do that. I don't know how to discribe it better. Maybe could Nick help, because he did it with his gate tutorials. So do you know which program I can use for it? Thanks Jorrit |

For doing things like GMAX and the CAT tutorial, you can purchase Camtasia from www.techsmith.com
However... for doing stuff in Flightsim you need Fraps - try before you buy! - www.fraps.com

I know that the person making some videos in the NL2000 team (come to the Aviodrome this weekend if you want to see them
) did not use fraps, it did not give the results he wanted. He got the best performance when he linked the TV out of his main computer with the TV in of another computer, only used to record the video.

FRAPS takes a fair amount of processing time, so that might be a problem if you are trying to show off your detailed scenery. Also, any little "stutter" or "pause" while a texture is loading (or whatever), seems to become quite noticeable when viewing the video. I have gotten some good results from it, but it's hit and miss.

Ok I tried it and it worked good. But now I'm stick with a 300 mb file
It is a bit . . . large . . for publishing on the internet. Any ideas?

Now you need to compress it. I use Adobe Premiere... but that is not a cheap program.... any other ideas anyone?

Maybe DivX? Take a look on www.doom9.org about compressing videos.
