• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

All the links on here that direct to it don't work for me. Anyone know where else I can find it?

Thanks

The tutorial is the best and a must see.
But don't use the length of the runway as a reference, you will end up with unmatched ground poly with photoscenery.

Please use this http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Align_background_image_in_3D_editor or http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13462&d=1354779579
Since the world is round, the length that we have in the airport information is the length that we measure along the curvature of the earth.
But when you do the model, you work on flat world of gmax. So the length is too far like you have a curve thing and you smash it to a flat table. It will be too long.

Hello!

Does anyone knows if this tutorial is still available? The link on Iblue wonder is dead... :(

Thanks!

Hello:

I have the latest edition of Spotlope's Ground Poly Tutorial PDF "somewhere", but I'd need to look for it on many Terabytes of hard drives and in countless download folders, and then ask Spotlope if it can be posted online before attaching a link to it anywhere other than his IBlueYonder website.

Bill has relocated from Portland to Memphis in the last year and appears to be restructuring his web site, so he may still be planning to attach the PDF version of his tutorial to the link:

http://iblueyonder.com/ground-poly-tutorial/

Perhaps some others here would like to post a heads up (and a request) at:

http://iblueyonder.com/

IMHO, Bill Womack's Ground Poly Tutorial is an essential learning resource for FS airport development, and it would be good to have a publicly accessible copy posted here at FS Developer for archival purposes via the WIKI pages. ;)

However, in addition to Tic's excellent tutorial on that subject, there is also another related tutorial posted here at FSDeveloper by Flyscenery.Org: "Creating High Resolution Airport Bases and Taxiway Edges"

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/ind...gh_resolution_airport_bases_and_taxiway_edges

Direct link: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/downloads/high_res_base_and_edge.pdf

Hope this helps ! :)

Hi,

I have also contacted bill about it again. In the past we already discussed if we could host the tutorial on fsdeveloper.
