• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX:SE Cannot creat a static item library

Using the newest version - having much fun. Can create models, look at the aircraft, create the file to place aircraft in FSX/SE - all OK. I just cannot create a library! Create library name - OK, add 'Use model' for FSX - OK, select models to be used - OK, select default save location - OK, but the 'SAVE LIBRARY' button never changes from greyed out! I think that I missed something but I can't figure out what.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Otherwise, great program and very handy.

Hi Fred,
Although I used to use the SAMM create library utility without problems, I don't currently have SAMM installed, so it's difficult to comment on your issues.
The workaround may be to download Arno's Library Creator XML, which should get you down the road.

I'm sure Don will get you sorted in short order, but perhaps you might review the manual in the meantime.

Cheers
Gman

Fred, without your Static Aircraft Library, there's little I can do. If you zip up your SAMM folder as well as the Static Aircraft Library (as described on page 3 of the user manual) if its not in your SAMM folder and send it to me at the e-mail address shown at the end of the manual, I'll take a look.

Don, I tried zipping everything up, but my e-mail program says it exceeds the 25mb limit.
Thanks any,
Fred Z
BTW, I assume what you call the Static Aircraft Library is the file named Models in SAMM

I assume what you call the Static Aircraft Library is the file named Models in SAMM. No, that's why I referred you to the user manual.Static Aircraft Library. But, I can probably work with just that folder.

You said you were having trouble with FSX models. If so, the minimum data I need are the set of FSX models you selected but for which you could not create a library. To further minimize the bulk, you can delete all the textures.

Still didn't get it, Fred. Have you checked your Trash for bounce-backs?

Try dgrovestine at shaw dot ca.

Don, looked in junk file - both tries were there (files too big) Will reduce to just two aircraft plus program stuff and try again. (Textures not included) I really appreciate your patience in this.
Later,
Fred Z

Will send tomorrow.

That didn't take long - and should have been cleared-up well before now. Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate the significance of the "Default" location for the library - and I never use that location; I save directly to the relevant scenery folders.

If you use any of the other alternatives, things work normally - at least for me.

I will make a development release sometime this weekend to fix this issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. This just proves the first law of programing - "There is always one more bug" ;)
Later,
