    Dear All,

I was recently flying around Edwards AFB and saw several objects (aircraft and hangers) that I thought could be VERY useful when creating airfield scenery around the world. I'm refering to the following, and I'm particularly interested in the B1 and C17:

However, these library objects don't appear in any list that I know of (e.g. http://lc0277.nerim.net/sceneobjects/ and other sources of thumbnails). It seems like they might all be part of the Edwards_AFB.bgl library... but I fear this means they are all LOCAL library objects :(, rather than GLOBAL library objects :). I really, really hope this isn't true! Can anyone confirm? So far I can't find them using either OPT or IS. Can you? If they are part of a global library I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me which one. If anyone knows the GUIDS and has thumbnails to match it'd be a real bonus!

    Happy Weekend!

    Hi,

Let me try to check with the developer. If the objects are not mixed with the placement, they don't have to be local. But I am afraid they will be local actually. The file size certainly indicates the models must be in there.

    Hi Airtrooper, hi Arno!

AFAIK, they embedded all in one giant file. But there is help around the corner :). I could put out the whole static aircraft collection as single .bgl files
    C-17
    V-22
    F-117
    B-52
    F-16
    SR-71
    B-1
    HL-10
    X-15
    X-1E
and as well some prototypical hangars

They are very CPU friendly and come with 4 LOD's.
It is a small pack in weight and maybe Arno could post it in his download section.
and as well some prototypical hangars

    gentlemen, my best regards

    Dear Frank,

Its a shame they are all embedded. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

YES, it would be great to have the whole static aircraft collection available as their own BGLs. Would this also make them global objects, rather than local? I'm full of anticipation here...!!

    cheers

it would be really useful- The hanger in shot 8 would be great to have as it is a very common design for military hangers.

Yes, I really like the hangers in the last two shots. I already know of some airfields where they'd look just right. If only we could get our hands on them... :(

I also made some thumbnails of these BGLs in Instant Scenery. So far as I can see all the aircraft and buildings are embedded together in groups. Even the sage brush is embedded!! Very frustrating... So near and yet so far.

If anyone can do anything about it please let us know...

    Hi Frank,

Did you make headway with this?

The ground handling equipment also sounds great.

I really like the sagebush at Edwards, which could be used at other desert locations, so that would be a bonus.

    Many thanks Frank.

Sorry, been busy a lot. A very lot.
I promise to go over it the next 2 weeks.
Sure I also can provide the sagebush/shrubs.

Thanks for the impressively swift reply! :)

No worries about being busy, we all go through busy spots at various times.

Thanks Frank- I tried them out but the one I really wanted had all the extra bits attached unfortunately. There is another one which might do the trick though.

    Hi Timmo,
I am afraid, I do not understand what you mean.
    Maybe you explain more concrete.
I of course could make a new model and post it here.

    regards

The hanger in the second to last picture in the first post has all the extra fences, bushes, containers etc attached to the model: I was hoping that it would be possible to get just the hanger building itself.

    Not really a problem

Frank (Things-to-come) and Jurgen created the custom scenery for FSX Acceleration under contract with Microsoft many years ago. They were flown out to KEDW where they spent about a week and took many hundreds of photographs!

They were kind enough to send me one of the twenty-five full-color Consolidated Project Report booklets commemorating their work... :D
