• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX EHAM Runway Configuration fails

Good day Guys ...

for some weeks I was working on the EHAM airport from aerosoft. It really was annoying to change the afx files all time ...
I have found a solution to this. With the runway config the sim changes the runways on its own.
But now it comes to the point I'm stucking right now. It is the landing/takeoff config of each runway. ATC send the traffic to runways which I set to close for landing (rwy 18L, 24, 09, 36L).
I tested every single configuration of the runways but nothing changed.
I need some help on this ...

Hello Patrick

One thing I see is the runways are configured incorrectly. One end is set closed and the other end is set open.

Example,
Runway 36R Primary is takeoff NO and Landing YES
Runway 18L Secondary is takeoff YES landing NO

ATC will disregard these type settings and use the runways as needed. When closing a parallel (or Xwind) runway both ends must be set the same.

Thank you jvile for the answer

I see. You mean I have to set it like:
36R Primary takeoff NO and landing YES
18L Primary takeoff NO and landing YES
But thats exactly what I don't want to have . Is there a possibility to get around it somehow? - Perhaps some cheating
If I set all runways to YES for takeoff and landing, what would ATC choose then?

That is correct

Whatever you set one end of the runway you have to set the other end the same for ATC to honor it.

In some cases you can close one end of a runway completely and remove the Start Location. ATC will favor the open end of the runway for takeoff and landing as long as the winds do not get to strong.

EHAM to work correctly needs at least 2 different runway setups based on winds from the south and then winds from the north. You select which airport runway configuration to use before starting FSX based on wind direction.
