    Hi ppl,

some months ago, I wanted to built a scenery for my home airport Frankfurt/Main Intl. I startet, but I stopped my efforts after some hours. On the 23rd of June, I started again und now I just want to show off what I did the last couple of days, especially yesterday.

This is a work in progress. There are no textures applied and all is rendered in Cinema 4D. But I've tested the scenery in FS2004 and it works really fine. Performance is great for that detail level. (Ok, currently there are no textures and no gates in the scenery. ;) )

Enough of talking, here are some pictures of Terminal 2, what I did yesterday. I am currently reworking Terminal 1, so the pictures I have aren't up to date.

    Terminal 2 Airside:

Terminal 2 Airside with some B747's (Third Party Model) for size comparison:

Comments are always welcome. I'll make a screenie, to show how it looks in FS.

Did some experiments with textures today. Unfortunately, gmax didn't want my UVW mapping, so Cinema 4D is the program, that will show my texture testing to you.

Whole texture is handpainted. I hope it looks okay, but I think so. Here's the image:

The box on the roof hasn't any textures yet. But I'm currently working on them. Feel free to comment.

At this moment, there is none :D . I'll do it, when all textures for this building are finished.

Well...I'm sure, everybody already put a lot of work in his scenery and designer y for example don't want to see himself "forced" to kick his work into trash, becaus the team uses the model of designer x.

But I'm open for ppl who want to work together (As long as I'm not "forced" to kick T2 for example :D )

And every desinger has a target for his scenery: Designer Y wants a highly detailed version of FRA, with cars driving around, dockable gates, windows to look through and so on. Designer X "only" wants a version, that looks better than default with very good framerates, extremely realistic taxiways and parkings, similar to GAP. And designer Z wants a detailed scenery with realistic models, showing the architecture of the airport as realistic as possible, realistic painting and groundmarkings (on selfpainted groundtexture) at good framerates.

Well..I hope, my thoughts are correct, but that's what I think when I look at the different FRA Versions. All of them are really great work till now and deserve a "Well done, folks."

I only have 25km's to FRA and nearly every weekend I'm spending some hours there. Because of that, this is the airport I want to make for FS.

So, if someone wants to join me or want me to join him...just leave me a PN and we'll discuss this.

Well, I spent the last days with gmax and tried to apply textures on my models. Worked...sort of... So there wasn't progress to show you. But today, I did some textures for my Terminal 1 building, I posted earlier.

    So, here's the screen:

In the next days, I'll try to set up a homepage for this project. Any future progress of work will be shown there, to keep this forum clear ;-)

Well you got nothing to loose at least to contact them
    See this thread :
    http://www.scenerydesign.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1151

As they are too at the initial stages ( :scratchch at least I think) and both are aiming at a high quality Scenery , you could be of help plus you leave at Frankfurt :) ....

Appart that I will have to download one less Frankfurt scenery :D

Well anyway , I wish you good work and good luck

They decided to do a smaller airport first.

Well, I'll follow my line and work at my Frankfurt Scenery. Solved a "little" problem today, but then there was another one...it's like a circle....a neverending story.

Well..had enough from buidlings yesterday, so I started a bus (and a Simba 8x8, but I've no pictures of it...yet). After one hour and a half (finding some sideviews was a pain in the ***) I have this result:

    Bigger picture: http://www.battlegroundaeon.com/dannyg/EDDF/10_07_2005.JPG

It's a Mercedes-Benz Citaro. Damn..I like the shape of this type. Maybe I'll build it completely in 3D, including interior (seats, driver's compartment) and then take some renders to use them as textures. Well, we'll see.

As you can see, it's not finally finished, but it will soon. :D

    Wow you are fast :D
BTW how you handled the dimensions of the buidlings . Did you draw a design or what ? :scratchch
I am designing Singapore Changi and I am doing this way . I use the official Aerodrome charts to take most of the dimensions

    Of course I am. :D

I took a lot of photos of EDDFs terminals (Nearly 500 for now, visited the visitor's terrace a few times and took three or four round-trips).
Well, I know how big a 747 or a door is and so I guessed the hight of the buildings and compared this picture with the ones I took and my memory. For the positions and the length and width of the buildings, I used a sat image with the resolution of 1pixel = 1 metre. Thats all.

Well...some days ago I posted a textured version of one of the T1's buildings. After looking at the screens and some of my reference pics, I got unhappy with the textures I made. So I reworked them...based on photos I took at EDDF.

I proudly present the new textures:

I think, that textureset does look much better. What do you ppl think?

Well..this building will be in the FS soon...textured.

Well...this building is almost finished. Textures missing for the tower and I have to convert it for FS... After this is finished, I'll rework Terminal 1 and than make my way to pier A.

Looks really great - can't you leave anything in your scenery that is worse than in mine? ;)

Looks like you beat everything available!

Well...I'll use the same textures for the FS model. But...you can't compare the renderer of Cinema 4D with the one used in FS. But I'll do my best, to geht the right EDDF look.

That's the good thing about GMax. It always looks better in FS than in GMax. :D :p
