• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

Every time i use FSX a fatal error occurs. I have installed the program twice, including sp1 and sp2, but the problem still exists. Can it be that windows media centre interfers?
I am using windos vista ultimate on a toshiba qosmio G45-AV680.
Please help

FSX appears to be very picky when other programs are running. I usually have to close any programs that I am running, start FSX and then, if I want another program to run, start it when FSX is running. You may find this applies to your system as well.

Hi,

What kind of error message do you get? Those details might give a clue about what is going wrong.

Also, post your graphics card manufacturer, model and driver version. Your issue is most likely a result of an out-of-date driver.

I predict in advance you are using an nVidia 8800 of some variety and that your crashes are occurring when you click on menus.

I realize this is a VERY VERY OLD thread (mods if you think a new thread is needed, let me know/be my guest and thanks!)

I have the latest nVidia drivers (even newer than the ones Asus provides!) I have the nVidia 310M and I realize this isn't the best card to play it on compared to say an nVidia 7800GTX

I can fly for awhile, but after using the menus enough times it will CTD others have mentioned that other running apps can interfere while I know this is true, in my experience with MSFS this is a display issue as I have seen this happen with other versions of FS when the drivers were NOT up to date.

So would you recommend I roll back my drivers? Or do you know of a driver I should use other than nVidia's latest for the 300M series.

Hi,

I do not think it is a graphics driver issue the more because I run a much older and lower end graphics card (Nvidia 7300SE, for heaven's sake:)) and I do not have any CTD's.
But what about your memory? Or, for that matter a rogue addon or aircraft?

clean install no addons and had SP2 and then uninstalled SP2 to SP1 same CTD but I think I fixed it by adding UIAutomationCore.dll to the FSX main folder.

I have 6GB of RAM I can hardly think its that too
