    Hi,

    This is the first time I need to move a radio tower (not an airport tower), so I have to exclude the original and place a new one only a few metres away.

    Problem is I can't find a "generic" radio tower among the Default Library Objects (lots of icebergs, though).

    Considering that FS has thousands of those all over the place, and that they are not autogen, I'd think they would be readily available to be placed with, say ObPlacer.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Fern

    Hi Folks

    Fern -
    Please see Lamont Clarke's excellent info collation at - FSX default scenery objects
    I think you'll find them under 'Hazards'.

    Fs2004

    Hi, Paul and all

    Thanks for the reply.

    FSX didn't give me the frame rate I wanted, even though I have a 3.2 GHz machine, so I am back in FS2004... and I de-installed FSX.

    Even if I re-installed FSX and made ObPlacer "see" its library, I want to distribute my scenery, so that wouldn't be appropriate.

    I just don't know where FS2004 hides those towers.

    Any more thoughts?

    Thanks

    Fern

    Hi Fern,

    the tricky bit about that radio tower is that it is invisible when placed at ground level. That's why it's easy to overlook in object libraries because you only see the red tip of the antenna. The altitude parameter determines how far the antenna protrudes from the ground.

    The model is named gen_radio (there's also a gen_tv01 that has a couple of dishes on top) and FS default code always places the foundation model (gen_techshack) underneath.

    A typical XML snippet is like this:

    <SceneryObject lat="68.344167" lon="-166.798889" alt="0.00"
    altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" pitch="0.00" bank="0.00" heading="20.00"
    imageComplexity="SPARSE">

    <!-- Object gen_techshack01 -->
    <LibraryObject name="6b2b7d784dbe967ae2836798b6b1f855" scale="1.00" />
    </SceneryObject>

    <SceneryObject lat="68.344167" lon="-166.798889" alt="60.96"
    altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" pitch="0.00" bank="0.00" heading="20.00"
    imageComplexity="SPARSE">

    <!-- Object gen_radio01 -->
    <LibraryObject name="5137c38443463c5527b068a311fd080a" scale="1.00" />
    </SceneryObject>

    Cheers, Holger

    Hi,

    You can find here on fsdeveloper a GMAX made radio tower model. Search: antenna and find the download in the thread "Big Radio/TV Towers"... Trawden001.zip.
    You can modify the model as well. Beware to make other dishes because they are framerate unfriendly.

    Problem Soved

    Hi,

    Holger: Darn! Hahahahaha. Got it. Also changed both in my Pics in Arno's Ob Placer for a more representative one, and added the phrase "Alt AGL is tower height" to my two pictures. (I like default library stuff because they blend right in with the rest of the stuff around it, and are the lightest on the frame rate)

    Jose': The link didn't work for me. This is what it said:

    The server encountered an error while processing your request
    Request: http://www.users.skynet.be/maximil/Trawden01.zip
    Response:The page you are looking for could not be found.

    For now my problem is solved, but it is always nice to have gmax stuff for future reference. If you find the new link, let us know.

    Thanks!:)

    Hi,

    Very strange... When I click on the link here it works.
    I had some problems with links to my site and fixed it. Maybe it works without the "www".
    But if you are still interested, I can e-mail it to you. Let me know your e-mail address and I will send it right away.

    Greetz. José. :)
