Hi guys I have 2 problems which I hope you can help me with.
The first is that, I have created a poly [flatten exclude autogen] and then placed my runway and compiled and placed both bgls in my active folder and all is well. However when I go back to my airfield the next day to make amendments I cannot get the poly to show.
I set the colour but nothing happens.

2nd. This morning whilst trying to "find" my poly I clicked on airport properties and the following error came up.

Value of '-180' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'Minimum' and 'Maximum'.

Bare with us for a few more days. Jon has taken a well needed break and he is the one that reads the error reports.

In the mean time you might try a small test airport and see if adding a poly will work at that airport without any error.

Hi Jim, well I haven't be able to replicate the error, but I am still having a problem finding my poly.
The poly is there and is visible available for amendment as long as keep ADE open.
As soon as I close ADE and go back to my airport the poly is not visible [and I have used the colour] nor when I scan over the area with my mouse can I see it.

There is a view mode in the menu to show poly's (show Land Class)on the Grid. Is this checked?

    Yes it is.
It was one of the first things I checked.

If you created a flatten (airport background) it may be hidden by a land class or similar. Make sure Land Class and Terrain Excludes are unchecked and make sure Airport Backgrounds is checked

There is a general problem that shows up now and again when creating a poly. ALWAYS close a poly by double clicking the last vertex point. NEVER close it by single clicking the first vertex point. So a rectangular polygon has four vertex points. Point 1 through 3 are single clicked - point 4 is double clicked. If you forget then make sure to double click near the last and then if needed clean up the poly. This is an intermittent problem and so far I have never gotten it truly rep0licable.

Hi Jon hope you had a good break.

Have done as you said but the poly's still do not show.
As far as I can remember I have double clicked on the last vertex.

Does this mean that I need to go back and redo them all, to make sure?

    Regards.

Jon I have just deleted the CVX bgl's from a trial area active folder and from ADE, I then redrew my poly saved and compiled and added the new cvx to my active folder and yes the area is flattened.
While doing this ADE is running.
I closed ADE and then restarted and the poly does not show.
I was very careful to ensure that I double clicked on the last vertex.
The box came up and at the same time the poly "filled in in black"
I selected Type - Airport Background
    Tag - FlattenExcludeAutogen
    and set the Altitude.
Clicked OK and the poly turned green.

That all sounds like it is working Richard. So if you save the ade file now the poly should be there when you open it again

Yes Jon, but notice I also say that when I close ADE and then restart it nothing shows.

I have just been getting an error when trying to Load Stock Data but now I cannot get it to do it again.

However to me it seems as all is not well so, as I have done with other stuff in the past, I am going to uninstall everything RE download and start again.

No big deal and I shall come back and let you know what happens.

OK here is the error when trying to run Load Stock Database

    Richard,

Are you using a background image with your project?

I think that the log problem is caused by clicking Load Stock Data when no airport is loaded - this is a bug and I think I have fixed it in the next release

Okay, you may need to right click your background images, and select move to back, or basically send them back in the visual priority. Sometimes background images can hide the polys.

Let me know if this works for you.

OK I am looking at this file now - there are two airport flatten polys in this file - both are visible when view airport backgrounds is checked. They are different shapes and both have the same altitude. Is that what I should be seeing?

Yes Jon, there should be 2, but that is an error on my part.

As Bob suggested moving the image back DOES work and the poly's become visible and become available for editing, although I have to do it each time I open the airport. No big deal.
[ I have deleted the "unwanted" poly from the file I sent you and all is fine.

And yes Jon you were also right about loading the stock data.
I did not realise that that only applied to the current airport, I wrongly assumed it meant ALL stock data.

    Problem resolved.

    My usual thanks to you
    [until the next time]

    Regards
    Richard.
