    News from the Australian FlightSimStore website;

    The FlightSim Store
Very welcomed news as Lockheed Martin now offer a reduced price on Prepar3d Commercial licensing as well as a new Academic license at just USD$49.95. With many high profile FSX developers moving to this new platform this is the perfect opportunity to see what Lockheed have achieved with further development of the FSX engine. Check it out!

In terms of barrier for crossplatform migration, Prepar3D currently offers the easiest route.

For aircraft, it is a bit of a no-brainer to convert them (ie ut them in a different set of folders)

Version 1.x Prepar3D builds on the existing backbone, but there is the promise of engine overhaul in future platforms ... as the development is still alive and active.

Would any engine overhaul likely involve loosing FSX back compatibility?

Well I guess it might, but that could most likely be overcome with appropriate tools to convert source to the new format / platform.

(I should soften the word "promise" to "distinct possibility" ;) )

For those who already bought Prepar3D "Professional" version at the full $499 price, LockMart are offering a $300 price adjustment (aka: refund) as well. That's a really nice gesture that should really help build their Goodwill! :D

I purchased it on Saturday, had it downloaded and running by Sunday, and I am VERY impressed. Smoooooooth.... No studdering, no hopping, no disappearing clouds, no pink runways, just smooth flying.

And.... I have traffic on, clouds on, day time, over San Diego, and on my original machine, not a new gaming computer.

I cannot run AA in my graphics card, but its smooth....................

Thats the one thing I hated most about FSX. Continuous studdering.

Thanks to Lockheed Martin for this brilliant sim.

With this price reduction we can expect many more simers to jump in. Smart move by Prepar3D. We should see many new addons soon. This is really good news for our community.....one leaves another comes in...the history of the world.;)

    Yep Gera...

Here we have a saying; one door closes, another opens.

Did you see the Mission Developer kit at P3D? Looks interesting.

Could you post a sample video for us to see ?

Also if I may ask, did you seperately purchase addons (AI, weather, etc) from Lockheed or were you able to use FSX addons here ? (just wondering)

    Or are they default !!

I do not have any video's on P3D presently, though I need to make some.

All FSX addons work in P3D. Only FS2004 models are having issues.

Its basically the same as FSX but updated and has a different control interface.

There are some videos at the P3D website; www.prepar3d.com

Note, some scenery is not supported. I 'think' GEX is presently not, (not sure). For ORBX, you need to purchase a swapper key that brings scenery over from FSX to P3D. Details about whats not working in P3D are at the website or can be posted there. Its pretty interesting.

Here are some screenshots of the interface.
