• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I'm surprised Save .mdl File also wasn't enabled as soon as you selected the Aircraft Title. Are you sure the selected title is a valid, flyable aircraft?

I clik on this and get Make Object Library page which has the FCS Lancaster in it. I don't know where the Autocrat
Libraries are made from existing models. It would appear you have previously created a .mdl file for the Lancaster. You won't find the Auster in that list until you create as .mdl file for it.

I have just released Version 2.1.07. Current users of any earlier version will be alerted the next time they run SAMM. Alternately, Version 2.1.07 may be downloaded as the Latest General Release from the User Applications/SAMM page at http://stuff4fs.com.

Thanks to a user who was having "misplaced parts" problems with Version 2.1.06 and who discovered the same parts were not misplaced using the now-defunct Version, I realized I had developed a fix for rotationally-misplaced parts that I had not carried back into 2.1.06. Version 2.1.07 corrects this oversight.

However, you may still have misplaced parts on certain aircraft. For example, the stock FSX B747 simulates wing flex and FSX renders the flaps and slats accordingly. However, SAMM doesn't address wing-flex and, unfortunately, the default wing flex on this aircraft is 50%. Consequently, the flaps and slats in the rendered static model are not aligned with the wing. This particular problem is easily overcome by setting the wing-flex parameter to 0. (Version 2.1.07 includes an updated user manual to highlight such situations.)

But, not every misplaced-parts situation can be so easily fixed. In general, recognition of such relationships and addressing them requires a close analysis of the rendered static model and a detailed analysis of the model design. SAMM provides a comprehensive set of "tools" should you attempt this, but the analysis requires good familiarity with aircraft model design techniques. Additionally, there are still a few situations that continue to mystify me - e.g., the misplaced pilots door on the stock FSX C172.

In general, unless you really are devoted to an aircraft model that exhibits misplaced parts, the easiest solution is to find another suitable model and convert it instead.

Further to yesterday's release of 2.1 07, in troubleshooting the reasons for a model not converting properly, I found that certain additional data in the Parameters listing would be helpful. Version 2.1.08, now available as the Latest General Release of SAMM at http://stuff4fs.com adds that data. Hopefully, you'll find it helpful as well. I have also "beefed-up" the troubleshooting section of the user manual.

Version 2.1.08 should be detected automatically the next time you run SAMM.

Version 2.1 08 (and all its predecessors) contained a bug that could cause an endless loop - for example, if "Engines On" were selected. Version 2.1.09, now available as the Latest General Release of SAMM at http://stuff4fs.com fixes the problem

Version 2.1.09 should be detected automatically the next time you run SAMM.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

I have just posted SAMM version 2.2.00 at http://stuff4fs.com. I fully supports P3D, both Versions 1 and 2, converting P3Dv2 aircraft to static and further converting those static models for use with FS9, FSX and P3D v1. (Note, however, P3Dv2 aircraft are typically much more complex that those for earlier versions. Earlier versions of FlightSim may not be capable of accommodating this added complexity.)

The new version should be automatically detected the next time you run SAMM. If it isn't, you can download it from the SAMM page at http://stuff4fs.com.

Enjoy,

I've just discovered that the latest release of SAMM outputs (sometimes confusing) progress messages when creating models (a test feature) for other than the base model version (e.g., when creating a FSX static version of a FS9 aircraft model). Should these appear, simply acknowledge them (click OK). It's annoying, but nothing more.

Those of you who find this too much trouble can download the SAMM Development Release (2.2.00(a)) from http://stuff4fs.com.

I have also discovered that the model viewer no longer displays textures. (The model itself is fine - if you like checkerboards.) This will be resolved as soon as possible.

I have discovered and fixed the viewer problem. The fix is included in the latest development release (2.2.00(b)) available from http://stuff4fs.com.

If no further issues are reported in the next little while, I'll make a new general release.

During the past few days I have been using SAMM 2.2.10 extensively to update static aircraft at my own airports. During this activity, I discovered (and fixed) a few well-hidden bugs and streamlined library generation. The result is Development Release 2.2.00(c), available from http://stuff4fs.com.

Assuming there are no further issues with that version, I'll release it generally in a week or so.

Please download and us the new version.

I have just uploaded Development Release 2.2.01(b). The FSX and P3Dv2 library creation routines now select .dds textures if available. (Otherwise, .bmps will be copied.) As well, if a model conversion fails, the error message advises the user that MCX must be installed in order to convert static model formats.

You can download this development release for http://stuff4fs.com.

I just noticed that viewer progress messages were not turned off in the previous general release. Development Release 2.2.01(d) which fixes this has just been uploaded to http://stuff4fs.com.

I have just posted SAMM Version 2.2.02. In addition to all the fixes in the earlier development release, I fixed a possible endless loop (should you cancel an attempt to enter a library save path) and implemented more obvious handling of the default static aircraft library folder - which is now automatically selected on the initial start. See the enclosed Version History for details.

I have also updated the user manual to make the use of static aircraft libraries clearer.

The new version should be automatically detected the next time you run SAMM. If it isn't, you can download it from the SAMM page at http://stuff4fs.com.

Earlier today I discovered a minor issue with the Static Position Editor. If you alternately clicked the Ft and M radio buttons, the static height increased by a factor of 3.28 (the M to Ft conversion factor).

Development Release 2.2.02(a), now available at http://stuff4fs, corrects this.

I have just uploaded Version 2.2.03 to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run SAMM.

P3D v2.5 was released a few days ago. It uses a new scheme to specify the SimObjects folders. Version 2.2.03 handles this. The new release also includes a couple minor enhancements (see the enclosed Version History).

I have just uploaded Development Release 2.2.03(b) to http://stuff4fs.com. It allows use of SAMM with P3Dv3, which was released last week.

SAMM handles v3 aircraft in the same manner as v2 aircraft. SAMM does not support any new aircraft formats/features that may have been introduced in P3Dv3.

Feel free to give it a try.

Be sure to download the Development Release, not the General Release.

Development Release 2.2.03(b) has some difficulty gaining access to P3Dv3 aircraft folders. This issue is corrected in version 2.2.03(c), now available at http://stuff4fs.com
