• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA [SOLVED] Jetways only work on some aircraft

After spending a few hours trying to figure out what I did wrong with my SODE jetway I realized the jetway worked just fine - as long as I used the right aircraft.
I can use multiple jetways on the default A321, but as soon as I switch to the default B744 the jetways are stuck in zero position and won't move, even though I do not get any error message. Tried the same thing with the Project Airbus A380-800, which should work fine after I added exits to the aircraft.cfg and the INI file, but no animation for either door. Again, no error in the log either, SODE thinks everything is fine, but the animation does not show. As soon as I switch back to the A321 the jetways are docked.
Am I missing something important here?

I can answer this myself after I realized the jetways only worked on smaller aircraft: The distance of the spot view was too big so that weird animations bug prevented it from working unless I increased the radius with MCX.
I would suggest to always increase the radius with MCX for all your SODE jetway models. The manual suggests this as optional, but I think it can easily be a source for hours of insanity (like I had) before finding the reason. Maybe it'd be a good idea to point this out more clearly in the manual.

Thanks Thorsten.

For FSX, it is a performance trade-off. Increasing model radius there will affect performance, especially when you don't do static variants of your jetway and use the SODE static -> dynamic jetway swapping technique.
For P3D, increasing the model radius is not necessary anymore, the jetway will always display correctly. Well that's what I observed, what sim were you using during your tests?

But yeah, when you intend to use the same model for all sims (usually compiled using the FSX SDK), you surely have to increase the radius. I'll put it into the manual...
