• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

PBR for one.

"Added support for multiple autogen description files. Files can now also override subsets of autogen content."

As with any new version we will only know the real impact after it has been released and the SDK updates are available.

But existing content usually doesn't break. To make optimal usage of new features a developer needs to update the content typically.

The SDK has only ever supported 3DS Max, so I wouldn't expect any change there. Those of us who don't use Max have always relied on MCX to convert for Prepar3d, which works great. Hopefully we'll be PBRing very soon...

This will come in handy to all of you starting to experiment with PBR materials ;)
This looks amazing indeed. Time for me to learn something new and figure out how to apply it.

"Added support for multiple autogen description files. Files can now also override subsets of autogen content."

Can anyone who now has 4.4 confirm whether this means multiple autogen files can be used at the same time? Possibly eliminating the need for Autogen Configuration Merger in 4.4?
The language used above is still unclear to me. I am not sure what they mean by "Files can now also override subsets of autogen content." 0_0 What?

The SDK typically also contains information on the X file format. With that I can add support to MCX for the new settings. So once the SDK is there I can start to look at it.

It seems the X format documentation has not yet been updated though. If somebody with 3DS Max can create a X file that contains the templates for the PBR materials I can start to support it in MCX though.

You can download the SDK from LM already, so you can just get it there.
