• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Customise Jetways?

Hello all,

I was wondering if it was possible to have a jetway that looks like the one that London Gatwick uses:

Is it possible to include the red strip onto the jetway? If so, I'm assuming I'm going to have to do some file editing.

Thanks,

Acerazus.

Hello it's possible

4 methods :
1) SODE, it uses an engine to animate a jetway you can find many threads about it here it is amazing and used by many developers
2) this one : https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Jetway_IK_video_tutorial /// https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/sdk/modeling/3ds_max/modeling/jetway_modeling.html
3) make your own and use some modeldif animations
4) make your own module using C++ and use your own simobjects (SODE does this so it is easier to use SODE)

have a nice day :)

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm wondering, what's the difficulty like? I don't want to create a jetway but instead, insert an already made jetway that had already been made and 'decorate' it with the red strip and logo that the image describes. I assume that software like 3ds max or gmax is required? I do have GSX level 2 and I assume I could use some jetway files from there.

Sorry, I'm quite new to this.

Making textures only is quite toxic
First you need someone that gives a jetway for free ( good luck )
The best thing is to make your own and place it
Look at SODE sdk it is easy all you need is some modelling and texturing ( i made it in less than 2 days ) and you can enjoy your own jetways

5) You can take the default FS Jetways and create a new object out of them that looks significantly better....but you would be limited to single color.....no stripes.

one texture that can be edited means possible strips !! but default jetway are quite (ugly) so a new one from scratch is better
with better bones assignements ....

No, you can't. The way the texture map is used is repetitive on all jetway sides. If you add a stripe, or any markings to the jetway wall, it will reappaear at the top. bottom, and opposite side.

I agree. the default jetway is very simplistic.......but good luck modelling one on Gmax! Possibly one of the most elaborated objects in FS. That skin and bone animation....PITA.
