I am working on a fictional airport that has a water airport. Because the coastline and other things were always different depending on P3D version, installed OrbX region, Vector etc I have finally given up on placing it on the island Fehmarn and have created - with much help found here - my own island.
This works perfectly fine and I am very happy.
Now I would like to have a cliff on one side, so that the island is not just a flat board.
Most post I have found deal with how to get better height data for an existing place and convert it to mesh. But in reality on my location is only ocean.
So how best to approach this? Can I borrow data from any other place and relocate it to my island? I understand that creating things manually is not recommended and will not look good. I have found several applications that can create virtual mountains like TerreSculptor, but can the result be used as mesh? If so, would that be only a visual thing or solid ground in the sim?
Any advise which gets me started is most appreciated.
