• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Best Format to Export from Blender? Basic Starting Tutorials?

Hi all!

I'm trying to model from scratch my home airport in Blender, which is coming along very nicely. I did once get the new building I modeled to show once in P3D V4.5, but this sim is a completely different beast it seems with developing.

Can someone please help me and point me in the right direction as to:

What file export to save my blender files in for compiling for MSFS
What program is used to compile for MSFS

I would appreciate it. I suck at google and couldn't find much, and the tutorial videos I find don't seem to explain much about the exporting from blender process.

Thanks again everyone, I intend 2021 the year to be that I finally get something created for MSFS. And to be my home airport. I have plans on redoing all of Rhode Island's airports. I have a contact at the Airport Management that allowed me access whenever I need photos for reference, etc, so its finally going to happen, with all of your help of course.

Thank you so much in advance. Just to show I'm not wasting your time, here's an image of the new KSFZ Old Terminal rendered.

If interested in working for my team at OCD Studios, feel free to contact me if you are interested in helping with the compilation aspect, but I prefer to learn as well how to do it instead of people just doing it for me. Payment will be in free product. (I'm new, so can't do cash payments)

I directly compile my gITFs in Blender from the Vitus tool "Blender2MSFS toolkit"
Others do differently and go through MCX (not yet tried)

Thanks as well for your input, and it is fully appreciated. I'm not brave enough to try the MCX Format just yet, but who knows, maybe someday as well. LOL

Thanks for the links above. I am also trying to fix the airports around my home city of Chicago. so far, ive done a nice job of adding buildings, hangars, control towers, but these are all stock models in the SDK and dont look like the real life models. Now im trying to make custom 3d objects in blender, and put them into my existing airport packages. (hopefully i can add models to an existing SDK package ?
