I'm doing the ME334 GMAX tutorial for stupids now and I'm finding the coordinates confusing. Given the key listed in an earlier post do I just have to make sure that what I want to be the top of the aircraft is the Z axis, the front pointing in the Y direction and right in the X direction?
It is easier than I thought! A long time ago I started to model aircraft and never got past GMax (I also had life interfere and got busy!!) and at the time it seemed like a real mess to use. The tutorial really helped. For anyone wanting to learn GMAX I'll second the recommendation to do the...
Thanks for the information both on this and the coordinate systems.
Any idea why they use a reverse system for some games - is it because in the end result the aircraft or object moves in the correct direction?
Looking at the FSX SDK they have DirectX using left-handed with Y up, Z away...
I also like his organizational technique. I may not know what I'm doing but I like to be organized when I do it <G>. Seriously, I like his method. I've been looking for a good way to do it.
BTW what does UVW stand for? I've seen it used but not yet found a reference.
Thanks. I'll go look at it. I appreciate it.
Just looked at it - very nice. I'll have to spend some time absorbing it. I guess the best thiing to do is first go over the GMax tutorials in order and then when I get to the P-38 I'll use these techniques.
Thank you very much. I'm glad I wasn't totally crazy. I found the Stupid idiot's Guide in my searches this week so I'll go back to it.
I'm not sure I follow on the Gizmo thing. Are you saying the coordinates need to be rotated?
Thanks for the references. I'll dig through them.
Okay, Bill the Lion <G>. I wondered when I saw the Citation.
I found the tutorials. I remembered after posting that I had to get them separately. I've got them and installed them. By doing in order you mean Getting Started->Making a Level->etc. until I get to the P38?
I did Getting...
Where can I find these tutorials? I will take your advice and do them in order!
Is this the Bill of EagleSoft?
Found it at http://www.flightsim.com/main/howto/gmax.htm. If it's not the correct one let me know.
