• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    FSX Zoom level

Hi folks, Possibly not quite the place for this but relates to the 2D panel fwd view so here goes: In FSX (SP2) I can set a number of zoom levels with "+" or "-" and then some intermediate ones with "SHIFT_-" or "SHIFT_+". Also, I can set the default zoom in a number of places but I'm unsure...

    FSX Time display oddity

Ah, ok. That would explain why some functions still worked, only the ones that displayed something or did a calculation on the time were messed up. Geoff

    FSX Time display oddity

Update: It's not the fact that it's absolute time - FSX simply cannot handle really big numbers it seems? In a test any number much greater than 2147450000 will have this effect / will not be read properly... (P:Absolute Time, Minutes) 1058500000 - 60 * gives a timestamp that does seem...

    FSX Time display oddity

Still getting nowhere with this  %!2.2f! gives the same as %!5.5f! %!d! gives "-" If I set (P:Absolute Time, seconds) (>L:DebugTime, enum) and display that, I also see the same returns, depending on formatting, and not the numbers I expect. Other variables are displayed as...

    FSX Time display oddity

This is very strange and I cannot work out what is doing it. I noticed that one of my stopwatch gauges had stopped working, so I put all it's variables into a text element for debug. Turns out that the time variable has gone crazy! The following code should just give the P: / E: absolute time...

    Panel.cfg... Negative gauge position values?

That's odd that it doesn't work in your FS9. I have a windscreen wiper from my wide panel that I ported to a 1920x1080 version of the cockpit, this makes the gauge have coordinates -271,0,970,585 and it works fine. I put the same panel in FSX, and that gauge was drawn at 0,0,970,585 - it...

    FSX Concorde nose visor?

Thanks, I'll have another look at it... When I tested it before though it was still somewhat broken even with the airframe type set to 5943: the airstairs (nose visor animation) were deployed also with the flaps :( Not really all that useful but gave me a good test of the 'external door open'...

FSX View direction from hat switch

Oh dear - not something I'm going to be able to just do easily then! I have only had FSX for two weeks and am still learning, and I have never made any C++ gauges for FS..! I don't suppose anyone has written a gauge to make information like that available to lesser mortals? Geoff

    Panel.cfg... Negative gauge position values?

I've had one experience of this and then I found that the negative values were treated as zero in FSX. They worked correctly in FS9. Geoff

FSX View direction from hat switch

Hi all, If I move my view with the numberpad in the 2D cockpit view, I can capture which view is being used with something like this: <Keys> <On Event="VIEW_RESET">1 (>L:FrontView, number)</On> <On Event="VIEW_FORWARD">1 (>L:FrontView, number)</On> <On...

FSX Limit to stretched panel size?!

As a solution, I split my panel into two parts, and used Doug Dawson's window status gauge to ensure that the second half always has the same open/closed status as the 1st. Seems to work ok. Another question: Can I move the eyepoint with XML? If so, how does it work, and is there a limit of...

    FSX Concorde nose visor?

Oh well, looks like the airstairs are yet another 'casualty' of porting this to FSX! Unfortunate as I like to fly to regional airports where they are pretty useful. Hopefully, once I get things fixed and tweaked, I'll start finding some actual advantages to using FSX over FS9 (distant texture...

FSX Limit to stretched panel size?!

Hi, There seems to be a limitation on the size of a 2D panel. Is this real, can it be fixed? FS9 did not have it... Since I've been messing about with FSX on my 'more appropriatly' sized 1920x1080 panel, I thought I'd see if I could get my 'personal edition' to work on my 5120x1600 display in...

FSX 2D View directios, positions and zooms?

Hi, In FS9, I could define the eyepoint, direction and zoom level for each of the static view directions via the panel.cfg. In FSX, it seems that the only thing left of that is the direction. Some testing shows, for example, that "VIEW_REAR_DIR=5.800, 0.000, 270.000" is interpreted...

    FSX Concorde nose visor?

Hi, I have a model from FS9 where the airstairs are controlled by the concorde nose visor positions. In FSX, the variables / key commands work but the animation on the model does not. I have done a little search around and the prognosis doesn't look positive. However, always worth asking, so...
