• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Newbie’s question

Would repeat what everyone above has said, especially with www.textures.com. However, sometimes www.textures.com doesn't have exactly what you're looking for (such as a metal panel with a specific hue and number/shape of lines/edges). In those cases I combine multiple textures from the website...

    [P3DV4] Ground poly flickering

I'm not too familiar with the P3D SDK but in FSX the issue is usually due to texture layers being too low (for example, the screenshot shows asphalt3 at layer 8). Additionally, if it's a large airport, sometimes it's also because the AFCAD flatten poly needs to be subdivided into more pieces to...

FSX KCLE Cleveland Hopkins for FSX/P3D (freeware)

Thank you so much! We just made it available on our website (https://clefsdevelopment.weebly.com) as a beta version but I'll definitely consider publishing it as a first version on avsim and other similar scenery sites.

FSX KCLE Cleveland Hopkins for FSX/P3D (freeware)

Getting close to finishing all airport buildings. All that's left afterwards will be ground vehicles, off-site buildings (such as nearby factories), and dynamic lighting for P3D users. Likely won't get to that soon since classes are starting but I'll give it a shot.

FSX KCLE Cleveland Hopkins for FSX/P3D (freeware)

I had time to redo some of the existing buildings and make them a bit more accurate. Also happy to announce that there will likely be an MSFS version thanks to Chris DeYoe/MyPhysicalWorld

    [P3DV4] Ground poly flickering

I would recommend increasing the layer count (I typically have all my textures in layer 14 or higher).

    Gatehouse Questions

Regarding the light, since this is FSX, there is no ability to light the area below the light effect. The only thing you can do is to add a photoreal texture or ground poly that makes it seem as if the ground is illuminated. No objects placed under the light will be illuminated however.

    Airport scenery request. KMLI

Well, there's no easy answer to that. I bet every single developer has been trying to answer that question for their entire career. I know that it mostly depends on good modelling, textures, and an eye for detail. For modelling, try to use measurements from Google Earth. For textures, make sure...

    Airport scenery request. KMLI

Yup! It also depends on your own skill and experience with it. First time might not look like what you had in mind but over time you'll get the hang of it. Check out https://clefsdevelopment.weebly.com/kcle where I used Sketchup and ADE to create an airport

    Airport scenery request. KMLI

For ADE, you can compile and directly load it into P3Dv5. For Sketchup, you simply need to run it through modelconverterx and it'll work with P3Dv5 as well. Try it out yourself when you have time!

    Airport scenery request. KMLI

Play around with ADE! You'll be surprised how easy it is to modify the airport to your own liking. If you want to have more realistic buildings, give Sketchup a try as well. It's also a relatively simple program to use for buildings.

MCX no longer opening sketchup files om my PC

Maybe there's something wrong with my download but the development release version is missing assimp.dll for me. Just a heads up.

FSX KCLE Cleveland Hopkins for FSX/P3D (freeware)

Updating ground polys to reflect CLE after the latest construction project. Took the chance to also redo concrete textures (they were originally too dark and not detailed enough) and apply some more details such as tire marks and drains. Next portion of the project is to finish up the main...
