• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

JohnnyBoythePilot

I'm just your usual aviation enthusiast teenager. I've loved flying and all things aviation since I was a little kid and it grew to where I've decided the aviation field is what I want to my future career to be in, whether as a commercial pilot or aerospace engineer (particularly in 3D modeling/CAD, engineering, or software-related jobs). I'm an "aspiring" pilot and bound to start flight training around the time I finish HS, but in the meantime I fly on FSX:SE and use it as a training-tool to keep me proficient. I've had FSX Standard since I was like 9 or 10 (around 2009-ish) and about 2 or 3 years ago, upgraded to FSX Steam Edition. FSX has played a HUGE role in helping me learn about aviation subjects and how to fly an aircraft, and by far has been my favorite game/simulator.

Aside from flying, I always had an itch to design airplanes. It started out with simple graph paper, pencil, and a ruler back in middle-school. I eventually started looking for a 3D program to bring an extra dimension to my airplane designs, and I settled on a game/semi-flight sim called "SimplePlanes" where you build and fly your own designs. I used that for a year or two, until I started taking 3D modeling classes from my online HS and learned how to use Blender. Now I'm seriously considering making a fully-functional aircraft in FSX, or make custom scenery objects for my scenery creating (yes I do that too).

I've been an FSX "developer" for about 2 years now, ever since I began making & editing airport scenery (under the guise "PNW Simulations"), and now that I've learned Blender, I'm itching to create aircraft for FSX as well. My first aircraft is probably going to be a simple fictional "test" plane, but my first serious aircraft will either be a Sonex Onex or an Aerolite 103.
