• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Alpha Problem

Hey all. Could someone please tell me how to eliminate this problem with the alpha. The object is a cross plain tree. It was originally build for FS9, but has been processed in the FSX Gamespack. I've tried various material settings, but without luck and I've not seen any solutions posted so...

    GMax Bible FSX GamePack chapter

Better still, I'd like the author of the Gmax Bible to produce a book on Gmax dedicated to FS scenery designers. Gmax is the most difficult tool I've ever come across. Anything to improve the learning curve! Cheers, Mattthew.

    LOD Distance Settings

Hi all. Can someone please suggest appropriate distance settings for LOD models for airport-based objects. I'm having some luck in Gmax and like to add some LODs to a few objects. Looks like the distances can be edited in the ASM files. However, I've noticed that other third-party...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Ta for the link Arno. Looks like it's the same issue. Sorry I miss-understood you earlier when you refered to it as a haze issue. Thought you ment the objects looked hazey. Anyway, we've got to the bottom of that one - it's a FS9 scenery engine fault, not just my machine. Cheers, Matthew.

    Cross-plain tree objects

Hi Arno. Don't know if you ever got around to having a look at the problem, but I took another look the other night. I was originally waiting on a report from a friend, Jeff, but he'd been pretty crook so I had to sit tight. Anyway, I placed other library objects beside the trees and compared...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Hi Arno. Have been trying to reproduce the problem and until this evening I thought it had gone away. Concluded, therefore, that it may have been the heatwave we're having here (affecting the PC, not my head;-). However, I've found it again and it seems that my analysis was incorrect...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Hi Arno. I don't think its a hazy look. It's definately a darkening. They nearly look black when this occurs. Yes, please have a look and see if you can pick it up. I'll try and post a screeie to illustrate the point this afternoon, when I'm back online. Cheers, Matthew.

    Cross-plain tree objects

FS9.1 Problem Hi Arno. I've got a problem with these tree objects in FS9.1. They work fine in FS9.0, but not in 9.1. I've only recently upgraded so have only just noticed the problem. What happens is that the trees change colour, turning very dark, at a given distance. If I slew away from...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Woops. Stand corrected on point three. Missread the question.

    Cross-plain tree objects

Hi. Here's what I can add from what I've learnt: Yes. No, if you make an object library with Arno's Library Creator that can be used with his Obplacer or Rwy12. Not sure, but rotating trees are marginally less efficient Yes. Yes, but it's not realy that difficult for end users to...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Arno, you're a ledgend! That did the trick nicely. Now I can finish these tree libraries. Excellent stuff. Thanks for spelling out all the detail over the length of this thread. I'm afraid there's little that's intuitive in script for me and I've not done it enough for the principles to...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Hi Arno. Thought I'd pester you about that object distance query I had a while back ;) I've not had any luck in getting the section of code to have any effect on the distance at which the object can be seen. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but haven't got a clue what's a miss. Anyway...

    Cross-plain tree objects

Hi Arno. Thanks again for all the help. Everything compiles properly now. However, I'm still not able to control the visablity distance. The script below is what I've used as a test. By rights it should only show between 0 and 1 metres (as determined by the figures highlighted in red), but...
