• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 KIND Indianapolis International Airport

I have been busy with RW stuff for a few years so a lot of the times new tech is what I struggle with (dynamic lighting, PBR, SODE, etal). I have to learn all of it again to keep up with scenery design. The things that take time are seasonal ground, autogen placement, cleaning up ground...

    P3D v4 P3DV4/5 texture formats

Right Tom. I usually have one high density texture which is 4096x4096 32-bit. It is packed with all my main building textures. Even on large airports it basically is the only texture that is called upon. It is sharp in sim because it does not lose any fidelity. Now I am sure others will argue...

    P3D v4 P3DV4/5 texture formats

Thanks for the replies. Answered my question. The old native 32-bit BMP texture was a much higher resolution and gave sharp textures much better than the DXT5. Also size was 3x DXT5. It did not of course have an alpha channel.

    P3D v4 P3DV4/5 texture formats

Specifically, is the full detail BMP 32-bit texture still available in P3D? I always use the DXTBMP program for conversion and I remember there was a site world of trainz which had a good write up of DXT formats and other formats. That site is offline now. I wanted a similar summary of what...

    P3D v4 P3DV4/5 texture formats

Is there a site which details all the P3D texture formats (i.e. DDS 1-5, bmp, etc.).

    PBR materials

Yes of course. It's just that I noticed some developers using naming suffixes so was wondering. Must be for their sorting. Thanks.

    PBR materials

ah OK, so unlike the _LM suffix in the past for night there is no naming convention now for PBR materials. That's good!

    Excellent! Thanks.

    PBR materials

Can someone list the materials and their naming convention for PBR materials in P3DV4/5 and MCX? So if I downloaded a PBR texture with the following materials what would be the equivalent _names in MCX for assignment _ao _bump bump map (but what is the assignment in MCX?) _diff _disp _nor...
