What I ended up doing was pulled the engine, prop and canopy off. Then I went and did a "select all" , "Part", "Texture", cleared all of the textures and did a multiple adding texture to all 6 sides. Next thing I'll try is to do texture on each part separately and see if it holds.

Yep. Its definitely the animation stuff that's causing the problem.
Took 2 of my models in FSDS, stripped all animations from them (except for the lights), exported to a scenery file (mdl), loaded them in ADE and added models to scenery and they come up good.

Performed all as you stated.
1. Deleted all Keys.
2. Went into Hierarchy > Reset: Scale
3. Selected "Auto Key", put key at 0, moved the gear to the up positon, hit the "Key icon" to set it at 0.
