• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    FSXA Getting accurate acceleration data

Wow........ 1 MPH = 1.46667 ft/sec simconnect.AddToDataDefinition(DEFINITIONS.acdata, "GROUND VELOCITY", "knots", SIMCONNECT_DATATYPE.FLOAT64, 0, SimConnect.SIMCONNECT_UNUSED); ......is actually returning MPH!!! Needless to say, the computation is now working. It also explains why my...

    FSXA Getting accurate acceleration data

This is what I'm going to have to do. Sucks, but nothing I can do about it apparently. :( @mgh: Using the Windows HPT is useless as well, because of errors due to the time it takes to make the request and get the data, and the fact that SimConnect is apparently completely out of sync with FSX...

    FSXA Getting accurate acceleration data

I did a test - SimConnect calls OnRecvSimobjectDataBytype() between 10 and 20 times per second. It seems that FS is incapable of being used for this kind of computation. I don't see any way of getting a SIM_TIME time step for my computations, and apparently no way to be called at the same...

    FSXA Getting accurate acceleration data

Hi, I'm attempting to create an INS using acceleration data from the sim, but I can not find any form of callback that is sync'd with FSX. As a result my computed GS from the accelerations differs from the GS provided by the sim, I think, due to timing errors. Does anyone know if it is...

    Debugging DLLs (Gauges) - How?

No, I'm not. I'm attaching to process afterwards. Best regards, Robin.

    Debugging DLLs (Gauges) - How?

Hi, As the title. I attach to FSX.exe, but when I set a break-point to test it worked OK I get "symbols not loaded" message. Any ideas how I should build the files/start FSX so I can debug them? I obviously already tried DEBUG build, and put both the DLL and PDB in the same folder in FSX...

    Thank you ACES

Hi, I just wanted to say that I'm shocked that MS have done this, and hope you guys find other work quickly. If you'd asked me if I thought MS would ever scrap FS, I'd have said no. Shows that absolutely nothing is safe from the corporate axe. :( Thanks for all your hard work over the years -...

    ACK! XTOMDL compilation problems

Hi, Have you tried compiling on a non-Vista system? Best regards, Robin.

Hi, If I have a cylinder that wants texturing (e.g. fuselage) what is the best way to create a texture sheet from it? I'd want port/starboard to be separate at the minimum. Using gMax. Best regards, Robin.

FS-X SDK SP2 is out and live

How does breaking script compatibility make you upgrade??? Sounds like a good way to stop you upgrading to me. Best regards, Robin.

    Materials Navigator problem?

Hi, Pleased you got it sorted out! I was referring to memory corruption, not memory available. :) Ahh - that didn't seem clear from your original post. Happy New Year! Best regards, Robin.

Once GMAX is gone, then what?

 So the next version will ditch gMax as a modeling tool????? What do they propose we do - shell out big-time for a pro modeling package? Best regards, Robin.

    How Many Sides are Enough??

Hi, I settled on 30 for this one. Since it is only apparent at an angle, I just kept going until it looked right, without going crazy. :) Will do! :) Best regards, Robin.

    How Many Sides are Enough??

This is annoying. :( The blue cylinder comprises 18 sides. How many sides are enough?! The light reflection looks OK, but where the model meets the world, it isn't. :( It isn't a big deal to redo the blue cylinder, but the tail is heavily molded to give the correct look. It obviously looks...
