• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    AIFP Timezones

A recent issue report and the introduction of MSFS prompted me to review AIFP's handling of timezones. Flightsim airport name data includes four fields: Country, Region, City and airport Name. AIFPs Timezone_Base.dat (on which your Timezone.dat file is based) provides a UTC offset for every...

ADE_GP Ground Illumination Now Works with PV5

For some time now, I have periodically attempted to get ADE-GP ground illumination to work with PV5 without success. Until now, that is, thanks in part to an old post by user "jtanobodee". While I didn't use his method, his post prompted me to think about the issue differently and I have come...

    Introducing ADE-GP Version 2.2.23.12

When a GP Poly has been rotated in ADE or the ADE_GP Editor, the relationship between the two displays may be difficult to determine. Version 2.2.23.12 of ADE-GP displays the ADE vertex number on the ADE-GP Editor. Hover the mouse cursor over a vertex on the ADE-GP Editor and the ID number of...

    Photoreal Scenery from Single Images

I recently began updating my CYYJ to include the new taxiway and expanded main terminal apron and to use photoreal images in place of the existing rather-bare vehicle parking lots (GP parking lines on asphalt with a few scattered vehicle models). Since I had two sources of suitable orthophotos...

    ADDE-GP Version 2.2.23.11 Released

I have just posted ADE-GP 2.2.23.11 to http://stuff4fs.com. It fixes a few fringe-issues I encountered while working on one of my own airports. As well, It now properly assigns the default layer to new GPs. Interested ADE-GP users who have recently updated ADE 1.79 need only copy...

ADE_GP - Notification of Missing Textures

The design of ADE-GP has always included a check for missing GP textures following Compile. But it was only when I started updating one of my own airports that I discovered the algorithm didn't work. Didn't do any harm either, but not much help. ADE_GP Version 2.2.23.6, now available from...

    Oops! - ADE-GP

In the 9 year history of ADE-GP, I have added new GP textures and updated a few others. This should have been, and for the most-part was, non-eventful. But, we have just discovered that due to a miscommunication between Jon and I sometime in the past, ADE updates include a Textures folder that...

PV5 Ramp Lighting Much Brighter than in PV4

I'm attempting to update ADE_GP to compile FSX/P3D materials-based ramp lighting. (Notionally, ADE-GP has had this capability for some time but I discovered a couple weeks ago it doesn't work as intended.) The fix for P3Dv4 and earlier versions was simple - extend the use of FS8-style GPs...

P3D Ground Polys at Night Don't Dissplay

I have just noticed at one of my airports that, at night, GP polys and lines at layer 28 and below do not display. Those at higher levels at full brightness at night Has anyone else observed this phenomenon? Can anyone explain it

    MSFS AI Traffic

As noted elsewhere in this forum. I have now updated AIFP to program AI traffic in MSFS2020 - which uses the same traffic file format as FSX. However, AI operation in MSFS2020 is VERY different from FSX. Unfortunately, Asobo has not released the SDK on AI traffic. So, we're discovering things...

    MSFS2020

Just wanted to let you know that I expect to have an initial version of AIFP for MSFS2020 in about a week. This will be an alpha version and I would hope a few experienced AIFP users who have purchased MSFS2020 would be prepared to help me validate that release. If you would like to help out...

    TS Pro is Better Now.

Some of you who have tried Terrain Sculptor Pro in the past were disappointed. Steep learning curve and numerous bugs. Well, thanks to a couple very persistent users, TS Pro is better now (though the learning curve is no less steep). It probably will never be the roaring success I had hoped...
