• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    World Update 10 changes

I didn't realise there were so many methods to obtain maps.

    World Update 10 changes

Hi Dick I just found that some (Asobo) update in the past (not sure which one as I hadn't used custom cockpit camera views for some time) seems to have changed/corrupted my custom cockpit views for a keyboard profile I set up some time ago. I just noticed that NONE of the previously set custom...

    World Update 10 changes

I just checked that out and YES Google maps shows the new road at Ballina airport (what looks like a new road) yet what I saw in Bing Maps looked like a 'greyed out' 'new' road which looks strange. Maybe WIP? I guess sparse areas of scenery don't get updated as frequently as more populated...

    World Update 10 changes

What area is that Anthony (I would like to check that out)? The scenery near YSHL got mucked up earlier this year which I only discovered after checking out the new YSHL airport in the release. Thanks for the heads up Dick. I will check out what changes it has made to my system.

MSFS MSFS Lights: Setting Flash Settings Cause Day/Night Issues

Oh! I missed that. Hopefully this will be addressed in a future SDK release.

Asset Group is nested in another one.

Thanks Dick. Looking at my modellib folder I find some texture files in the modellib folder (they should not be there) as well as redundant textures now not used in my model inside the textures folder. Could that cause a problem? I have sent you a link to my project. BTW just now I reproduced...

Asset Group is nested in another one.

This error (asset group is nested) has just happened again and this time after I simply added some stock lighting (warm light) along the road. Build all BEFORE adding the lighting produced NO errors, added the warm lights and did a BUILD ALL and got the error. Tried reloading the project and...

Asset Group is nested in another one.

Hey guys I need to 'park' this problem. The error appears to not be there anymore. What I did was exactly what I did as described above. When I added the same object the second time and the error was displayed in the console I did a SAVE SCENERY, did a BUILD ALL again and STILL got the error...

Asset Group is nested in another one.

Sorry for any confusion. Yes I too 'trash' everything by exiting MSFS, make changes and then start MSFS and reload. In a nut shell the problem started happening when I simply modified my scenery object/model using Blender. Dick I thought the problem was with the street light which is part...

MSFS Is it possible to add lights in ADE - tried creating a darker image with _lm suffix

I did it using ADE. It was some time ago but I think I simply placed the LIGHT WARM MEDIUM in front of the building and then using the 'properties'? set the altitude of the light to maybe 5.5 metres (the higher the altitude the larger the area of light on the ground and buildings. There is no...

Asset Group is nested in another one.

Thanks Rick I didn't think that I was trying to do that. What I did was use an existing working project and then replace the models in modellib, open the project, load into editor (the models needed placing again) and then build all. I had previously done the same in the past when I improved my...

Asset Group is nested in another one.

OK I used a previous project which worked. Loaded it, build package, build all and all worked without error. I then made a copy of it (the top folder and all sub folders) , replaced my model with the modified model (new model name so that I know it is the latest) and tried again I still get the...

Asset Group is nested in another one.

I get this error when placing my scenery object more than once. Has SDK changed? I did not have this error when placing the same object twice some weeks ago but now when I start again and place my object once and also do a Build All there is NO error BUT when I place the same object in another...

MSFS MSFS Lights: Setting Flash Settings Cause Day/Night Issues

Maybe this [020] Creating Animated Scenery by the Flying Theston where he creates a simple lighthouse with rotating light might help. He mentions the Day/Night 'flag'.

    MSFS A 1$ dollar question...aircraft static converter?

MCX can be used for FSX and MSFS objects. I can try and cast my memory back and try to assist if you advise how you tried using MCX. Are you attempting to 'import' a glTF (*.glTF) file from the MODEL folder for the aircraft? I must point out that when I just did this (to refresh my mind) I was...

    MSFS A 1$ dollar question...aircraft static converter?

I have converted an aircraft model to a static one but a long time ago. I can't remember the exact method I used however I am sure that I used MCX (Model Converter X) to IMPORT the relevant file (you need to work on a copy of the original in case you muck it up) and then I exported the materials...

MSFS MSFS What is the correct method to apply emission to a mesh for MSFS

Thanks Rick, Gary and Dick, As this has moved off the subject of the thread (ie What is the correct method to apply emission...) where Rick referred back to another thread of mine and suggested how I might add a pseudo ORB (using Scenery object LIB_LIGHT_22 which has emission) I wonder if that...

MSFS MSFS What is the correct method to apply emission to a mesh for MSFS

I must be doing something wrong as I have now added and placed the LIB_LIGHT_22, saved my project, BUILT ALL, exited MSFS, copied the package to my community folder, restarted MSFS and still that light 'head' appears during the day as below. What did you do for the result you posted above (so...

MSFS MSFS What is the correct method to apply emission to a mesh for MSFS

I may have not described correctly. All the "LIB_LIGHT_ss" objects I tried display what appears to be a light 'head' or fitting which emits light and also lights up the area beneath which is what I expected BUT during daylight I can still see the light 'head' of fitting displayed (no light of...
