• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS How to work with SimConnect_AIReleaseControl

Thank you for the tip. As it turns out, both questions/ issues are not correlated: 1. regarding AIReleaseControl, I found out that it doesn't do much for non-Aircraft SimObjects which have not be given a path (waypoints) and are not controlled by the AI. So this is not a problem anymore for my...

MSFS How to work with SimConnect_AIReleaseControl

Hello, I have been struggling with this topic for quite sometime and checking several code to try and find an answer. Also, and although I might misinterpret something, I have read once and again the official documentation (MSFS's, FSX's and P3D). The question is this simple, and maybe I am...

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

FYI, it seems AMBIENT TEMPERATURE cannot be extracted for different Objects, only for the User.

    Thank you!

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

Continuing with this subject, I was able to create one test probe, send it to Oslo (in order to be very far from the user aircraft) and tried to read AMBIENT TEMPERATURE from it. So far that’s been unsuccessful. I keep getting the temperature from the user aircraft position, not the new created...

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

Just so everyone is aware, after a few private comments with Diego, I wanted you to know that he is completely right concerning windows.h in a WASM module; it cannot be included. It works for a SimConnect module, but not WASM. Regarding other libraries, all I can add is that at least chrono...

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

Yup, as part of a gauge wasm. Including chrono, cmath, string and iostream among others.

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

I'd say yes, at least regarding the core of the code (which is what I've been working on). I even used for testing the SimProbe.mdl and it does show in the Sim :) So I'd say yes, with a little work probably. Not sure why you say that we can't use includes such as windows.h, math.h, time.h ... I...

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

Yes, this is what I’m looking at as we speak. There are some nice implementations of sim probes out there. Thank you!

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

Thank you. Yes, I have worked with open-meteo. But I meant using in-Sim simvars.

MSFS Getting temperature at a given location

Hi, Can any of you think on a creative way of obtaining ambient temperature readings 1 NM in front of the aircraft (or a given lat/ long)? I’m asking for creative ideas since I know we can’t call simvar AMBIENT TEMPERATURE at any location. Ideas are appreciated! Thanks.

    MSFS Setting LVAR in .FLT

Could you elaborate on this (the initialization part)? My experience is the following: setting a certain LVar to 1 in the default cruise.flt does work. But setting that same LVar to 1 on a saved FLT, once loaded again, it doesn’t work. It seems as if the LVar is re-written.

    Non-ISA Engine Corrections

Thank you Roy. Yes, I see the physics and logic behind it. Even more, during climb, not just speed but gradient should be taken into account. I just doubted myself after a few days of tests and analysis. What I’m trying to do is to “translate” the maximum climb performance tables (which have...

    Non-ISA Engine Corrections

Not wanting to open up a new topic on this matter, and having read extensively the forum on this subject, this might be a very basic (even stupid) question. The reason I want to cross check with all of you is because of the discrepancies I'm seeing between theoretical calculations and real...

    Non-ISA Engine Corrections

Hi everyone, I've been working on engine modeling for some time now, and as a basis for my work/ research, I've used Roy's "FS Thrust versus Altitude" paper. The temperature ratio, represented as theta, is given by the following formula: (288.15-1.98*altitude/1000)/288.15. Quick question: does...

MSFS Custom Toolbar - Force Disabled Panel

Hi everyone, I am desperately trying to force disabling certain in-game panels (such as VFR Map, ATC, etc.) when a given community aircraft is loaded. Is this possible? Within the Custom Toolbar (the gear icon), I can turn off any of these panels, and the option is maintained next time I open...

    Turbine Oil Temperature Range

Hi everyone. Oil temperature in MSFS seems to work as in FSX, with same variables: - Oil Cooling Constant: (left it at 0 although like in FSX it doesn't seem to do anything) - Oil Heating Constant: gives maximum oil temperature in Rankine - Oil Time Constant: sets the settling time (both for...

Setting Oil Quantity with Python SimConnect

As far as I know, ENG OIL QUANTIY is not settable. That could be it. Best!

    Takeoff-roll at TOGA Engine Issues

Its probably not that relevant ... I've found several posts regarding FADEC vs. non-FADEC designs and this is where the main development differences are. Also, take into account this is my first experience with engine design for a flight sim; although most of my issues and doubts have been...

    Takeoff-roll at TOGA Engine Issues

I think we are misunderstanding each other here. Let me try to be more "graphical" on the issue at hand, and forget we are talking about MSFS (I am experiencing the same issue in P3D v5). Here is an excerpt of tables 1503 and 1504 as per your document and common practice within the community...
