• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Animated Simobjects bouncing and sliding / lagging animation

Glad you found the error 👍 This is a well-known problem - depending on the viewing angle, the object disappears. The reason lies in the reference point of the object; if it is outside the camera's field of view, the object will no longer be rendered. You could try placing the reference point...

MSFS Animated Simobjects bouncing and sliding / lagging animation

There is another entry in Sim.cfg related to surface collision: IgnoreObjectsCollision. In the Sim.cfg it looks like this: [Surface] IgnoreObjectsCollision=1 Is your object a SimObject that runs waypoints (e.g. via a mission script), or is it an animated PathFollowObject?

MSFS Animated Simobjects bouncing and sliding / lagging animation

Hi! Do you have the entry in your sim.cfg that the objects are static? In the [General] section you can specify whether the objects are static or moving: [General] category=StaticObject DistanceToNotAnimate=800 On the other hand, if the objects are movable, then a different entry would be...

MSFS Animation dependent on distance from user aircraft?

I just think I made a mistake in my thinking. It probably doesn't work as easily as I imagined. So I reject my idea (for now). Nevertheless, thank you very much for your answers :)

MSFS Animation dependent on distance from user aircraft?

The idea with the pause in the animation is a good idea, but could possibly be used elsewhere 👍 I don't want to open and edit the 3D model again. The most elegant solution would be to add code to the XML file, like we do with the visibility code... but the code should control the animation...

MSFS Animation dependent on distance from user aircraft?

Thanks, but it's not what I need :) The crane animation has already started. It should stop when my helicopter approaches the oil platform. Is there a solution to this?

MSFS Animation dependent on distance from user aircraft?

Hi, is it currently possible to stop an animation when your own aircraft is nearby? There are animated cranes on a platform. When a helicopter approaches to land on the platform's helipad, the cranes should not move. If the helicopter flies away, the animation of the cranes starts again. Is...

    With the greatest pleasure 👍

    MSFS Animated People (Character Animation)

As far as I know from my own experience, this is not necessary. There is no baked animation in any of my models. What achieved my goal was to export the animation and the 3-D model separately. The msfs_babylon exporter has a drop-down menu exactly for this approach: There you can choose...

MSFS Which projection does Bing Maps use?

As far as I know, the MSFS processes orthophotos in the "Mercator Auxiliary Sphere" projection, the code is as Dick already wrote 3857. The image data is then congruent with Bing image data and the MSFS world:

how to convert lights bgl format (FSX) to P3D v.4

You can place the lights in the sim like regular 3D models, just like when you place a building. Most developers do this via the P3D's built-in Simdirector. Or, you attach the light to your 3D model using a dummy object in 3D software (Blender/3dsm) and export your model. The model is then...

how to convert lights bgl format (FSX) to P3D v.4

I'm not quite sure which lights you mean exactly. But maybe these lights could help you: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/resources/3-d-lights-for-prepar3dv4-and-prepar3dv5.213/

    MSFS rotating beacon light tower

To 3: The topic is too complex to discuss here in this article, which is about a rotating beacon light. To 2: That will definitely work. To do this, you would have to create your object as SimObjects, each with different visibility conditions. To 1: Export your GLTF file once with the beacon...

MSFS (Released) VABB Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport CSMIA Mumbai

This looks very good, the lights give the scenery a very realistic touch. The many details also speak for a good handwriting. Excellent! :)

MSFS MSFS Toolkit by Nool Aerosystems

Wow, 189 EUR per year. That's not cheap to just create an aerial photo. Too expensive for freeware developers, in my opinion. Hello dear developers of MSFS (Asobo) Now would be the perfect time to share your aerial imaging tools with us 🙂

    MSFS rotating beacon light tower

Yes, it is possible to add the Asobo Beacon light to your 3D model and presumably you can limit the distance with an appropriate LOD model. In your 3D software you create a dummy object in your model, which I call attachpoint_beacon. However, there is an offset of several meters, so I had to...

    Time to Retire

Hi Jon. Yes, I have PayPal and considering your great commitment over many years and the fact that you have been a great help to me with your Airport Design Editor program, the donation turned out to be a bit larger. I hope that many will read this and join me with a donation :)

    Time to Retire

Jon. For people like you, who have accompanied the flight simulation over such a long period of time and have earned a lot of respect and recognition, there is a word for you in German: Urgestein! Thank you for your posts, I always enjoyed reading them. Lean back and enjoy the time with your...
