• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Simconnect disconnects immediately after connection is established

Hello everyone, I'm desperately looking for help about this issue. I had this working on FSX but since I migrated to P3D it stopped doing it. As title says the problem is I the connection is closed as soon as it's established. I have my own implementation but to discard any mistake I can be...

FSX Proper way to detect variable changes

That's pretty obvious, what I'm asking is if there is a feature in the API that can help optimizing this task.

FSX Proper way to detect variable changes

Hey guys, I'm coding a piece of software for my home made cockpit. What I would like to know is what is the proper or more efficient way to detect when a variable changes its value. This is an example about how I do it right now: void processData(Data *pS) { if(pS->myVar) // boolean...

    AddToDataDefinition and bool values

Thanks for the clarification Doug, and yes, that's what i think too, they bypass simconnect most of the time. BTW, I'm having a problem with the NGX SDK, i don't want to open a new topic as I will post it here, maybe you guys can help me.... The connection example compiles properly but it's...

thanks mate, got it working with your help BTW, i'm starting to hate PMDG since nothing what i'm doing seems to work with them :banghead: Should I switch to FSUIPC?

    AddToDataDefinition and bool values

I'm probably doing a very stupid question but i will take the risk anyway as at this point i'm unable to make any progress.... What I'm trying to do is to extend the functionality of one of the sample files which comes with the SDK, "Managed Data Request" code here...

FSX My first approach to simconnect (need some help)

Ok, found some interesting things. Reloaded the default 737-800 and now lights work, but just for a second, then the switches move to "OFF", I don't have idea why. With the PMDG one it doesn't work at all, I guess because their code bypass simconnect in some way, I suppose a key...

FSX My first approach to simconnect (need some help)

Thank you Jon, so far, as I'm just starting, I don't want to complicate the things further adding a new layer, but I have downloaded it and I will check it in the future. I'll get back to my code and try to figure what I'm doing wrong.

FSX My first approach to simconnect (need some help)

thanks mate, download links seem to be dead tho. Hi Patrick, I'll keep it in mind, thanks! Does it really work for you? It doesn't for me, I check both of your suggestions, lights don't work, even from inside the cockpit the switches remain static when I press the button. I also unticked...

FSX My first approach to simconnect (need some help)

I have some knowledge about programming but totally new with simconnect and C#, today I decided to start teaching my self on both and wrote this small program which attempts to control the aircraft. It only has 2 functions, first I started with a button which pauses the sim (worked fine), then...

Hi, I'm trying to start with some basic C# code but my code won't compile as I can't add the simconnect reference, SDK is installed but Microsoft.FlightSimulator.Simconnect does not appear in references manager. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Fixed manually adding C:\Program Files\Microsoft...

    FSX Linking arduino with FSUIPC

Hello, I know about FSUIPC SDK but I'm still missing the "how to link that code with the arduino board" part. Maybe would help to remark that even when I'm totally new with arduino and FSUIPC developing, I have many years of experience as programmer. It's just this is something different as...

    FSX Linking arduino with FSUIPC

I just bought one of this boards (my experience with them is literally zero), I would like to know if it's possible to communicate directly with FSUIPC, basically I'm looking for a point where to start. So far my goal is just to build a simple panel with on/off switches to manage lights and...

    Where to start?

Doug, I've programmed C++ before so it would be perfect. Just let me ask you...does MS provides any IDE with their FSX SDK?
