• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS MSFS and castering tail wheels.

Excellent "essay" and it reminds me of the many tests I did myself trying to create more realistic behaviours for a couple of taildraggers with free castering tail wheels in MFS. Thank you, and I'll surely give your suggestions a try ! P.S.: EDITED the default Extra 330, but there's something...

    MSFS2020 New [FLAPS] Section parameters

I'm almost sure we'll be able to taste one of your creations one day ! maybe sooner than later ;) Let me see.... 310 looks like a charming option ;-)

    MSFS2020 New [FLAPS] Section parameters

Well :-( Let's hope they open their heart / mind to the claims of the devs At least they appear to be commited to try to change what is wrong, fine tune, maybe even add additional stuff... I hope for the best... Otherwise, it's always the same - back to the dark side, and DCS :-)

    MSFS2020 New [FLAPS] Section parameters

Understood now. Well, let's hope they bring news for the next SIM Update.

    MSFS2020 New [FLAPS] Section parameters

    Have a - careful - look into the FBW A32NX MOD "flight_dynamics.cfg", namely : [FLAPS.0] ; drag, pitch type = 1 ; [FLAPS.1] ; lift only type = 1 [FLAPS.2] ; drag, pitch type = 2 ; [FLAPS.3] ; lift only type = 2 ;

    MSFS2020 New [FLAPS] Section parameters

Thank YOU so much Donstim !!! One question, since Sebastian mentioned they will add further detail to flap aerodynamics in the next SIM update - are these entries already available, or are these in part the new ones to be added ?

    Very interesting post at FLIGHTSIMULATOR.COM...

Alexis is surely at it in finding out why some stuff feels so unrealistic about MFS's Modern FDM... He posted some of his findings at the official MFS forums. Surely hope someone from ASOBO can have a look at it... Physics and Aerodynamic Comparison between Real Flight Test and MFS2020 -...

Prop wash ruins the entire ground handling in MSFS

Excellent finding Alexis, thx for having tested ! Probably instead of the lift force the vectors are instead showing the actual acceleration / net resultant (?)

Prop wash ruins the entire ground handling in MSFS

Using fake / phantom structures and control surfaces has also been a widely used method in X-Plane, to control some of the quirks that plague, for instance but not only, taildraggers... Anyway, while trying to play with castering tailwheels in MFS, I did some tests with the Extra and the Pitts...

MSFS Aircraft Editor : How to fix position fuselage white volume

@ailgorbot I'd say your model has the 3d not in sync with whatever vales are in the "flight_model.cfg" reference file. Check such stuff as fuselage length, aircraft / model reference point setup. Usually, given well defined generic 3d parameters of the real aircraft, the reference toroid...

MSFS Aircraft Editor : How to fix position fuselage white volume

You have to set render scaling in the graphical options to 100% You probably lowered it from there to get better performance, but it distorts the visuals in the Dev mode :-(

Fine and mandatory visit everyday in my simmer life ( which has more cycles than RL :-) ) Thx !

    Some doubts on Table 1506

I honestly wouldn't rely much on the current "jet engine" implementation n MFS. Yesterday there was some post from an Aerosoft dev regarding their commuter CRJ release being on hold for a fix for a "strong" bug in the jet engine code of MFS. ASOBO is dynamically taking care of some of the...

    Aileron trim limits

In Hervé's document there's only reference to the elevator trim limit and it reads: "Positive value, maximum pitch trim deflection. Up and down limits are equal, different limits can be set via FSUIPC offsets." Maybe FSUIPC could be used too in that case ?

    MSFS .cfg parameters ??

Well, the biggest difference between Ms Fs approach and XP's one is that XP calculates all of this on it's own... I believe in MSFS most devs calculate it using simple proportions and some trial & error having reference "good" models previously available and probably developed by themselves...

Prop wash ruins the entire ground handling in MSFS

There is, nonetheless, a pair of tuning parameters, but it's not very useful. It should act on propwash effect on rudder, and can be set between 0 and 1 in flight_dynamics.cfg. "yaw_moment_yaw_propwash" "yaw_moment_delta_rudder_propwash" plus that "rudder_scaling_table" with p vs scaling coef...

    MSFS fully free castering tailwheels...

Well, :-/ can't really figure out how to properly model the free castering tailwheel in MFS ... Have tried a few combinations of the above with no success, unless it's also something with the visuals that doesn't correctly portray the tailwheel freely castering. Any ideas really welcomed !
