• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSX Stacking Objects with ADE in FSX

Hello, I am not a designer and am an old man who’s hands shakes. I have read the ADE manual, but there was no information on how to stack objects or even tell what the vertical dimension is for an object. I am trying to stack buildings on top of each other to create a multi-story office...

    FSX Lighthouse Flashing Light

Meanwhile, back at the ranch… I did figure out the the flashing light above (with Samantha’s help 👍), but now I am having trouble placing objects precisely since my hand shakes. I will post a new thread.

    FSX Lighthouse Flashing Light

My OP has been up for more than forty-one hours and the only response has been to… oh never mind.

    FSX Lighthouse Flashing Light

UPDATE: I no longer need help with the above. I will post back later with steps to success for the benefit of future readers. Step 1: Start reading the ADE Manual and things will begin to make sense fairly quickly.

    FSX Lighthouse Flashing Light

[Hello - I really do not know where this should go, so feel free to move it. 😊] Hello, Is there an easy(?) way of adding a white-white rotating flashing light (beacon?) to FSX scenery? I don’t need the whole lighthouse, just the white rotating “light” I will put atop hangar in a control tower...

HMS Bounty Won't Move w/ FSX Deluxe SP2

Thanks, but fortunately, this issue has been resolved. The problem lay in the old, saved installer zip files. They must have been corrupted. I downloaded new fresh files (install and update files) and everything works! Thanks to everyone for the help and again, to Milton, Rob, etc. for this...

HMS Bounty Won't Move w/ FSX Deluxe SP2

Hello, I know this is an old subject, but a search for “FSX HMS Bounty Won’t Move” brought me to a very old thread. I have tried everything in the thread including reinstalling FSX. No success. The Bounty worked just fine in FSX-SE, but I can no longer use Steam. I installed FSX Deluxe from...

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

Oooo! 😟 Is that a barquentine or a brigantine?

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

@rk, have you ever tried the simulated HMS Bounty? You sound like a mariner. 😊

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

Howdy. Keep in mind sailing a square-rigger is different than a sloop rig. Tacking in a sloop allows for coming about, but in a square-rigger, reverse direction against the wind is necessary. Falling off the wind is good if wearing ship as the wind is always from behind mostly. It just depends...

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

Okay Christian. Thanks for the correction. If I am able to effect Marcel’s function successfully I will advise.

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

Hi Marcel, my apologies for sounding curt. It was not my intention. I have edited my reply post to be more cordial and informative. Thank you for the comprehensive explanation. I noticed all the aircraft.cfg on marine vessels all’s engines specify “jet engines.” Is this of any concern? The...

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

For clarity, I am only wanting a “reverse gear” for powered boats and ships. Thanks for comment. [off topic] As far as the Bounty, it is quite easy to reverse via “tacking.” Essentially, a square-rigger can’t “come about” (turn into the wind) since it will lose way before it can head across...

FSX:SE Reverse Engine for Marine Vehicles

Notwithstanding my enjoyment of the wind-powered HMS Bounty, I have been using FSX as an engine-powered ship simulator too, but I keep having the same problem. I cannot get the watercraft to go into "reverse." I know the FSX models are all "aircraft," but there are designs and tweaks which allow...

    FSX:SE Course Deviation Disconnect Pause

Thank you. I will give it a shot. Actually, I was not really wanting to infringe on Rob B's brilliant work. I was just wanting to add an adjunct function which I thought might be an exterior function. FYI - A skipper has to get some sleep even if the probability of being awake at any of the...

FSX:SE Automating Rudder For Simple Heading Hold

Thank you for the heads-up. Amazing how "simple" something can seem to look from the outside.

    FSX:SE Course Deviation Disconnect Pause

Thanks to Milton and Rob and their wonderful wind-powered HMS Bounty tall sailing ship I am able to enjoy my mariner-ish interest. Thanks also to Bitzer and Beaumont as well as Kronzky and the Bubble Sextant I am able to navigate the FSX seas. Actually, the Bubble Sextant was created to use for...

FSX:SE Automating Rudder For Simple Heading Hold

Thank you all very much for the input. Unfortunately, my skills are below the necessary pay grade. LOL FYI - What I was trying to accomplish is a "rudder-controlled" autopilot as opposed to using ailerons which has a number of applications. Firsdt, the Sperry DC-3 AP held HDG via the rudder...

Otto - Helmsman for the HMS Bounty

If anyone is curious, I am regrouping to bring the aforementioned voyaging back to life. I suspect the pace may be glacial at first as I try to relearn and reorient. I will make any pertinent announcements in a future thread (best practice?).
