• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MFD Display illuminaton at night / P3Dv5.4

Does the MFD have a specific _n.dds file e.g. the instrument panel in my B-314 has an instr_n.dds file for the VC nightime lighting. When the lights are turned on, the n.dds file is overlaid on top of the _a.dds (albedo) file. If it doesn't, you may be out of luck because lighting (and the...

MSFS24 Fetching all waypoint/flight plan info?

No. I do know that the reality bubble isn't a sudden cut-off at 200km as I wrote a P3D METAR decoder that is picking up weather stations at about 220km out.

    Altitudes

'Plane Altitude' is height above sea level 'Plane Alt Above Ground' is height above the ground beneath you (usually what you'd use in a radar altimeter) 'Indicated Altitude' is altitude derived from barometric pressure 'Pressure Altitude' is derived from standard ISA. See this explanation on how...

MSFS24 Fetching all waypoint/flight plan info?

There's a 200km limit to the reality bubble. Are you trying to retrieve info that is further away from the aircraft than 200km?

MSFS24 I met a new friend and we are making an App together

Nice touch with the vibrating cable!

MSFS24 I met a new friend and we are making an App together

Hi Rick C/C++ syntax never changes. One of the biggest complaints (and biggest advantages) of C/C++ is that it is pretty much the only programming language that is backwards-compatible with every piece of C/C++ code ever written (unless there's a bugfix that wrecks older workaround code). I...

    P3D v4 PBR Texture Creation

Intel: native export from Photoshop - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/tool/intel-texture-works-plugin.html Nvidia: standalone exporter. It adds a menu item to Photoshop that allows you to call the exporter from within Photoshop -...

MSFS20 Struggling with HTML in-game UI formatting

I've just read the solution and the good news is that it really won't take much study for you to understand what's going on there. As you found, the critical point is the cell sizing and spacing (TD) - and don't get hung up on capitalisation. 'td' is as good as 'TD' etc..

MSFS20 Struggling with HTML in-game UI formatting

Are you using W3CSS? If not, I'd give it a serious look because it takes almost all of the pain out of CSS coding. https://www.w3schools.com/w3css/default.asp Despite suggesting that you link to the template online, there is nothing stopping you from downloading the template and linking...

    MSFS20 Airbus Trim Setting

YMMV, as you say. I've always found the _AXIS events in P3D to be the most reliable.

    MSFS20 Airbus Trim Setting

Okay... Cold'n'dark isn't really going to tell you anything. If the aircraft has electric trim tabs then if it has been coded properly, any incoming demands from SimConnect should be overridden/reset by the internal code. Also this: Trim is dynamic. RequestDataOnSimobjectType is not. Try using...

    FSX person walking mod

Yes, but. BOB got jailed on my setup for causing crashes. Freezes, to be precise. YMMV.

    MSFS20 Airbus Trim Setting

If it works on every plane except the Airbus, you're going to have to assume that Asobo have done something different for that aircraft. The only way you are going to find that out is to work your way through all the XML trim code relating to the Airbus and compare it to another default...

MSFS20 Code to test the magnetos

As Mathias says. Additionally, mag drop should not be more than 50 rpm, otherwise you have a mag fault.

    MSFS24 Biome Corrections

Erm... MSFS2024? (Sorry Dick - that was just too much to resist!).

Any possibility of permanent de-activation of the Slew Mode in fsx or p3d?

BTDT. I simply tracked the user distance and altitude from the starting point. I set up a warning if the user approached within five NM of the maximum allowed distance or 500 feet of the maximum allowed altitude and if either boundary was breached, used a trigger_key_event(KEY_SITUATION_RESET,0)...

MSFS20 G73AT Grumman Mallard trainer update

Don't worry - we love double posts! 😄 If you do decide to go the P3D route, I'd be interested. -Dai

I'd figured PP Co too Rick. Sensory overload - pah!! 🤣

MSFS20 G73AT Grumman Mallard trainer update

Hello Drew I doubt very much if you will like this response, but for what you appear to be trying to achieve I believe you would be far better using Prepar3D. Although the outside view wouldn't be as nice, the ability to create accurate instrumentation is better in P3D than in MSFS. The flight...
