• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS24 Three Estonian airports (two for MSFS24 only and one for MSFS20 and MSFS24)

Two Estonian airports for MSFS 2024 (native) are now available at my site https://fsaddons.fi and also on flightsim.to - Pärnu (EEPU) and Ruhnu (EERU). My previously made MSFS 2020 version of Kuressaare (EEKU) also works fine in MSFS 2024. EEPU (Pärnu): EERU (Ruhnu): EEKE (Kuressaare)...

MSFS20 I'm having Difficulty with the ORM texture

What parts of this image should be shiny/smooth metal and what parts should be rough/matte paint?

MSFS20 I'm having Difficulty with the ORM texture

Oops, you are right. Corrected. It was correct in my previous post, but my brain made a somersault there...

MSFS20 I'm having Difficulty with the ORM texture

Here is an example. This is a repeating texture of a rusty metal surface. The first picture is the albedo (the actual color texture of the surface). I extracted the channels from the COMP (or ORM or ARm or whatever you want to call it) image and made a combined image that shows the red...

MSFS20 I'm having Difficulty with the ORM texture

No, it is not the colors red, green and blue that makes it, but what is in the channels for red, green and blue. That is a different thing. In the green channel you need a greyscale image representing the roughness of the material. Black=totally shiny, white=totally rough (not shiny). The...

MSFS20 I'm having Difficulty with the ORM texture

Do you have a proper O R M texture with the ambient occlusion in the red channel, the roughness in the green channel and the metallic in the blue channel? What exact pixel size is you texture png?

    Evektor Eurostar

Does somebody have it still? I can't find it on the net and it seems that @bpahe has not been on here since 2020... I would need a static, simple model for MSFS2020...

    MSFS20 Blender - FS2020 Glass again again ....

I made a series of experiments with standard type material and glass type material. There seem to be no way at all to make a reflective material really mirror objects in front of it. It only reflects terrain and sky with clouds. If I select the MSFS Glass type as a starting point, then I can...

MSFS20 Scenery Package size is getting too big due to textures!

Just as a comparison. My recently released EFTP has about 15 custom buildings, almost 30 other custom objects, a total of about 100 textures, mainly 2K but some very small and a couple 4K, ranging from 1 Kb to 23 Mb in size (the original png files). There are three simobjects, 15 custom...

    MSFS20 Blender - FS2020 Glass again again ....

Do not touch the shader nodes, as Ron said above. The settings in your pic would require a proper, complete PBR texture set. Forget it and set only the MSFS parameters (numbers as in your picture) as follows: Standard material. 1) No need to touch this, no need to adjust Alpha here. 2)...

MSFS20 Lights don't work in MSFS

The newest official Asobo Blender exporter (version 1.3.3) is made for Blender 3.6. I suggest that you install and try Blender 3.6 and newest version of the exporter, included in the newest SDK (v 0.24.3)! Many benefits from that... You need to have the "Punctual lights" ticked in the settings...

MSFS20 EFHV - Hyvinkää Airport v2.0 published! [Freeware]

The new version contains more than a dozen new, custom modeled buildings and objects, based on fresh photographs and extensively using PBR-textures. I had a problem on this airport with vegetation that was entirely impossible to remove from a tiny part of the aprons. No normal removal tricks...

MSFS20 Triggering Hangar door animation in SimObject by distance?

Just a heads-up and thanks for the script and ideas in this thread! There is a gate between the apron and the flying club parking area on the Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (EFTP). The gate is operated by the air traffic controller in the tower, so when a small plane is on it's way out of or in to the...

MSFS20 [SOLVED] MSFS Runway Start position offset issue

Have you positioned the starting points for the runway correctly on the centerline?

    PBR materials shinning alot.

Good tools if you have the separate files to be converted and combined! Shadermap is a little bit different as it can produce the comp and norm files directly from a single picture - that is what I use it a lot for (when having photos of airport buildings and such).

    PBR materials shinning alot.

Nice. If you are doing more texturing work and want to use PBR materials, then I recommend an excellent piece of software called Shadermap (https://shadermap.com/home/). I have a template for the MSFS style PBR materials, and can easily make a good set of PBR files from any texture image or...

    PBR materials shinning alot.

I think we can clearly see on the picture that the roof and the plaster walls are very shiny and reflective. At least the plaster shouldn't be... He's probably using a plain roughness file in place of a proper comp file...

    PBR materials shinning alot.

IS your comp texture made according to the sdk? Red channel=Ambient Occlusion, Green channel=Roughness and Blue channel=Metalness. They must be done correctly to work. Too much shininess is mainly caused by too low roughness (too dark) or to strong metalness (too light). You have a file with...

    MSFS20 Blender - FS2020 Glass again again ....

Why would you have to separate the glass? I do not think it is necessary. Just make a material for the window faces. Set MSFS Standard type. Blend mode to Alpha blend. Tick Backface Culling and Show Backface. Base color to black (or some dark color blue, green if it should be tinted glass). Set...
