• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Custom FX when converting model

That would be great. Usually, I only have 1 or maybe 2 different effects / lights in one model. Of course, I can open the mdl in MCX, mark all lights and edit the fx names and effectParams, that's really not that much trouble, just wanted to see if I was missing some cool feature.

    Custom FX when converting model

Thanks for the quick reply, Arno. I have lots of gltf files with each containing dozens of lights. By default, MCX converts them to mdl naming the lights "fx_spotlightFFF...". I would like MCX to call these "mycustomfxname" instead, and also use "mycustomeffectparams" instead of the detault "0"...

    Custom FX when converting model

Is there a way of defining a custom effect (fx) to attachpoints when converting a gltf model to mdl? By default, MCX creates these "fx_spotlightFFFFFF01_..." fx files, but I'd rather use my custom fx files. Would be great if there was some setting in MCX that allows defining custom names for...

    Material Names

I think that would be a good idea. Regarding the zero, I'll investitage that once it happens again. Thanks for looking into it. :)

    Material Names

Hi Arno, not sure if this question has come up before: Is there a chance you could change the material names, using the Albedo/Diffuse texture slot instead of assigning mat1, mat2,...? Usually, MCX does that, but if a model is converted into another format (for example from gltf into x), the...

FSX Textures not completely transparent during the day

To get even better results, use One / One in blending options, and use a fully transparent day texture. But yes, most of us are focused on MSFS these days. ;-)

    merge objects using command line

Great job, Arno! Easy to use - and does exactly what I was looking for. :)👍

    merge objects using command line

For me, one LOD is sufficient, as I would create each LOD seperately anyway and maybe later merge them into one model.

    merge objects using command line

a simple merge should do. if I need offset or other modifications, I think I could always make it a 2-step and do the modification first, and then the merge. Thanks for looking into it. :)

    merge objects using command line

I wonder if it's possible to use the MCX command line to merge several objects. I have 100 different models, and want to add a certain model to all of them using the merge option in MCX. Is that possible?

    Use name tag for GUID

I appreciate your concern, but the only issue might be a duplicate GUID, which can easily be avoided. EDIT: Just to avoid misunderstandings: the word "antenna" does NOT have to be included in the GUID, just the numbers (2 or 3 digits).
  16. Horst18519

    Use name tag for GUID

I could do that manually, but the kml output of scenproc is like the old xml output, where every tag has a new line: <Placemark> <ExtendedData><SchemaData schemaUrl="#_lighthouses_v0a"> <SimpleData name="BGLOBJTYPE">LIBRARYOBJECT</SimpleData> <SimpleData...

    Use name tag for GUID

Sorry for the confusion. I have a kml file containing a batch of objects (in the name or description field): antenna 01 antenna 17 antenna 33 antenna 04 antenna 01 antenna 11 antenna 21 antenna 21 I would like scenproc to output an xml that uses the numbers from these objects for GUID...

    Use name tag for GUID

In the end, all I would want is a kml and/or xml export* that includes the original name. (* where every object fills a single line of the exported file, like in the xml export now)

    Use name tag for GUID

No. Use the (number part of the) name or description and put it at the end of the GUID: object name = antenna 01 -> GUID 12345678-1234-1234-1234-00aa00000f01 object name = antenna 17 -> GUID 12345678-1234-1234-1234-00aa00000f17 object name = antenna 63 -> GUID 12345678-1234-1234-1234-00aa00000f63

    Use name tag for GUID

Sorry for being a bit imprecise. I load a kml or shp file which includes a batch of maybe hundreds of objects, all with unique name and description tags. In my case, the names are for example "antenna 01" or "antenna 07" or "antenna 63". Now I'd like to create a placement xml file that uses...
