FSX:SE Adding ADE To Fsx Steam

Sorry Jon - is that true ? I was considering installing FSX Steam if/when I finally move to W10. I was assuming the FSX SDK I already have would work just fine.

Can't stop the trees from showing through

That's interesting Melo. What I didn't mention in my post above was that in addition to Airport Background/Flatten and Exclude General/Everything, I also lay down a Landclasss/Grass Skirting 2 polygon as the base for my airfields (as recommended by Ian P). Maybe it isn't the Exclude...

Can't stop the trees from showing through

I'm not an expert, but In my experience, the various Exclude/Flatten combinations do not always work as expected. Sometimes you have to separate the exclude from the flatten to achieve the desired effect. My standard practice is to use Airport Background/Flatten and Exclude General/Everything...

    ADE ADE Backup Utility

A handy little tool Jon. I can see me using it for all sorts of stuff. Might wait until it's out of beta though :)

    Taxiways that are "invisible"

I guess that wouldn't surprise me George. But I only use this technique for grass strips where there are no marking or lights anyway.

    FSX Texture Not Displaying

    That's certainly true.

    Taxiways that are "invisible"

You can have taxiways with zero width that are invisible but still work.

    FSX Texture Not Displaying

Interesting Colin. Sounds similar to my problem, but my textures were solid, not using a few pixels.

    Time-restricted scenery?

I don't think you can specify date/time etc in an effect controller, but you can certainly do that in the XML/BGL that places the effect. This from the SDK manual: effectParams= The parameters of the effect. For example, the following effect will appear at midnight on January 1st every year...

AI not taxiing at, or disappearing en-route to, new airport

Just realised that LM could also stand for Las Malvinas ;)

    FSX ai error

If you view the model in MCX and operate the animation tab, do the main wheels operate as expected ?

AI not taxiing at, or disappearing en-route to, new airport

I was thinking about this. It seems to me that P3D is finding all the necessary files (airport, traffic etc), else the airport and/or AI wouldn't appear at all. So the directory structure may be OK. Similarly it can't be a mismatch between the AI and parking spots or again they wouldn't spawn...

P3D v4 Using own models as AI vehicle traffic possible? And if so.....how can I do that?

It certainly is possible to replace fuel trucks with your own models in FSX. Not sure whether P3D uses the same structure though.

AI not taxiing at, or disappearing en-route to, new airport

I think you're a way off a re-instal ! I'd certainly try to get it working on your system with the airport and traffic files in more standard locations (e.g. Addon Scenery \scenery. or whatever P3D uses) and using default AI a/c. It does look to me as if the airport itself is good.

AI not taxiing at, or disappearing en-route to, new airport

I don't have P3D, but just for fun I compiled your cut down version into my FSX SP2 test system, duplicated your flight plan, and everything worked fine. Which a/c are you using ?

AI not taxiing at, or disappearing en-route to, new airport

I doubt it's your problem, but I never use paths. On grass I use zero width taxiways. Seems to work fine.

    FSX AI Arrivals Anomaly

And it works. Unfortunately by the time I got to understand the problem I have a dozen or more airfields, each with upwards of 25 flight plans that need to be changed. Not to mention some collateral changes required to parking, fuel trucks etc etc. Ho hum.

    FSX AI Arrivals Anomaly

Just an update. I have spent a lot (a lot) of time on this, Here's what I think I found. It does indeed look like a FSX bug. It looks like the problem exhibits in any flight plan that includes a leg which is a simple circuit, taking off and landing at the same airport, The duration of this leg...

    FSX AI Arrivals Anomaly

Well - GMT is the option displayed in AIFP, and I recall a while back I went through all my flight plans and changed them to GMT. So pretty sure. If it's a FSX bug, it's not straightforward to work around. I thought of splitting the plan into two plans, but of course I can't have a plan with a...
