Max: Animations disappear when using "Prepar3D Tools Animation Manager" with imported .FBX

Make sure your keyframe animations are all in Linear form – Linear Rotation and Linear Position. Set them via the Motion panel, Trajectories tab in Max.

Windows 10.... Is there a risk on the update/conversion?

I did it when last building a new, replacement rig. Once Win 10 was installed on the new machine, logging in to MS activated the installation and it has run and updated ever since.

Windows 10.... Is there a risk on the update/conversion?

Now you have upgraded, and if you haven’t already done so, link your Win 10 license to the Microsoft account you get hassled to create when installing Win 10. That way, when the present machine is replaced due to breakdown or age you just sign in on a new, non-activated Win 10 and tell it your...

    Creating lower resolution bmps/dds

For FS it doesn’t matter for the sim whether textures are 2048x2048 or 1024x1024, they’ll still display fine. What bitmap editor are you using? First save backup copies somewhere safe, then load each into your editor, resize to 1024x1024 and save. You can do this directly in Paint.NET, or with...

P3D v4 Need someone to convert sceneries (payware) to XPlane

That’s a little ambiguous. Is this converting existing payware scenery to XPlane format for you, or is it converting scenery you have made to XPlane format so you can sell it? It helps to be clear.;)

Max: Animations disappear when using "Prepar3D Tools Animation Manager" with imported .FBX

The .FBX import might not support animations or you might not have ticked the correct boxes in either export from Modo or import into Max. All animations must be reduced to linear keyframes before exporting from Max to the sim anyway. I don’t know Modo, but Max has excellent tools for building...

    Bad Day at Black Rock

Not at all, Walter is still with that company and a valued staffer. The management were less than impressed with Computer Support who set up the system without telling anybody, least of all Walter, that the machine was to be left ON at all times and why.:banghead: A notice on the machine at...

    Bad Day at Black Rock

I’m inclined to agree, every OS version has benefited from throwing as much memory as possible at it and 10 is no different. Re cloud storage, the following tale is true, just the names will not be divulged, oh no :tapedshut. A certain company had their network working nicely and cloud backups...

    Here we go again....

Hmmm. Perhaps a software update might be an idea. Any particular reason to stick with XP? I’m only curious.

    Here we go again....

Sorry Gary, but I haven't seen that sort of error in weeks, if not months. My current version of Firefox is 76.0.1 (64-bit) which I think is the latest, since I always let it update as updates are released. Which version are you on? I could suggest logging out, clearing your cache and logging...

How to make something really light weight go fast...?

That suggests the flight model has an idea how strong a life-size paper replica really is? You do like exploring the stranger corners of the sim, Bill! :rotfl:

    Nothing moving

You would be overflown more often here - helicopters, a 747 freighter two days ago, Airbus Atlas regularly practicing touch&goes and a C-17 this morning. Also ambulance sirens in the background. Just another day in paradise.

Nvidia Texture Tools Exporter settings for DDS files

On the nVidia page you downloaded that tool from, the very next item as you scroll down is the plug-in. Further down is the legacy DDS plug-in for Photoshop CS6 back to v5. Seek and ye shall find.

3DS Max Frozen viewport areas in old 3ds Max versions in Windows 10 – an answer.

This is an old problem in 3ds Max - and in Gmax - but this is a possible work-around. I (still) use 3ds Max 2008 and when right-clicking in the viewport the area covered by the pop-up or Quad menu occasionally freezes, partly obscuring your work. In past days this could be fixed by a quick swap...
