• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Quick Way to UPDATE textures

I found a possible way around it: in the MSFS install directory there is LocalCache/$PC$/... which has folders corresponding to my projects directory and contains what looks to be a cached version of my texture files. Deleting these files seems to allow you to reload any changes to the textures...

MSFS ENSD - Sandane Airport, Anda

Perfect thanks! Good to know it's not me just doing something wrong. My texture folder is like texture_edit1, _edit2, etc. at the moment haha. Been messing around and I think I've found out why editing textures doesn't update properly: in the MSFS install directory there is LocalCache/$PC$/...

MSFS How to get runway to follow terrain?

The scenery object method is clever, I like that. You can try to get runway elevations from charts, but usually only the high/low points in touchdown zones are shown (and obviously there aren't generally charts for little grass strips like these).

MSFS ENSD - Sandane Airport, Anda

This airport looks amazing, well done! As for creating custom markings I'm trying to add them to my own airport and have a few questions: Are you using aprons to display your custom textures? Did you have to flip your texture files backwards so they show up the right way in the sim, it seems...

MSFS simple airport -or- simple scenery?

Only thing I can think is make sure you don't have the polygon section minimised in the scenery editor. I do that all the time and it means you don't get a red x on your cursor.

    Quick Way to UPDATE textures

I can't seem to get this working. I'm just adding custom textures to put onto aprons. I have a working material lib and tried to make changes to some of my texture files. No matter what I do I can't get them to update. I've deleted them from the material editor, from the bitmap manager...

MSFS How to get runway to follow terrain?

Wow, I was expecting a lot more than that haha! Do you have downloads for those strips?

Tutorial on building airports in MSFS

I've got a tutorial series in the works that covers creating airports, maybe this is useful.

MSFS simple airport -or- simple scenery?

It's not too hard to create an airport from scratch, I personally find it much easier than copying the sample projects and editing all the XML files. There are just a few gotchas which you need to be careful with otherwise the package won't build (setting the asset folder is the one I always...

    Adding taxiway

Make sure you are using the taxiway point object, easiest way to do it is to enable one click placing then they get connected together as you place them. Maybe this tutorial will help:

MSFS How to get runway to follow terrain?

You did a good job @Kronzky on making those runways look realistic. I'd be interested in seeing what the layout of terraforming polygons/rectangles looks like in dev mode.
